Her lectures were occasionally very confusing but her ability to create an interesting and engaging class discussion is unmatched. Our class really became close and had some great conversations about culture in Spain. I definitely feel like my Spanish improved so much in her class. She is also very understanding.

Comment:

Very sweet professor, I thoroughly enjoyed going to her class even though language has never been my favorite subject. Not the most organized and structured professor I've ever had but don't let that deter you! If you show enthusiasm and participate a lot you're golden, grade for the class is very dependent on that.

She is very accessible outside of class, and is very willing to help you as much as you need. Every class there is a discussion about the homework, so participation is very important. Also, she is very clear about what she expects for the assignments.

Has a huge heart and wants to see her students succeed. A little bit crazy but always entertaining. Mostly discussion-based with very little emphasis on grammar in class (mostly as needed based on questions). Easy to do well as long as you participate and feel comfortable making mistakes. 2 oral presentations, 2 compositions, and 2 tests.

Marta is nice, but shouldn't teach an intro level Spanish class. She doesn't ever explain concepts and gets mad when we don't understand her. She even said once, "I don't understand why you don't understand." She relies on the HW to teach us; She doesn't teach us much in class. I have a good grade, I just never want to take another 1 of her classes

I took this after people told me the professor was amazing. not the case. Villar gets angry when you ask questions in class, she's extremely unclear to the point where the entire class is confused on her directions or what the homework is. Her grading makes no sense and she is extremely rude and has favorites. DO NOT TAKE.

She's a little quirky, but she really wants you to do well. Ask questions after classduring office hours and ask her for more detailed feedback on essays, she appreciates the effort. If you show interest, you will get on her good side and get a good grade.

She's a wonderful and funny professor. She's always willing to help. Tests are easy. You have to participate or else she'll call on you. You need the online textbook to do the online homework assignments. I enjoyed this course.

I've taken classes with professor Villar for 2 semesters, she has always been helpful. As long as you do you homework, you should be able to participate in class without much difficulties. She doesn't mind people making mistakes as long as they put in the effort to participate in class! Great professor, I would recommend taking her class!

Villar is my favorite professor at BU. She is committed to her students and wants them succeed and get good grades. She is always in a good mood, has a contagious laugh, and brightens the classroom. She will give you a good grade if you visit her office hours to show her how hard you are working. She really cares about her students. Take her class!

BEST professor I have had at BU. She is an exciting teacher and makes class s comfortable you dont have to worry about making mistakes. Extremely fair grader and even lets you rewrite compositions to improve grade.

Marta is the sweetest teacher at BU. I've always loved Spanish, but even in this subject that I excel in, I have issues getting things in on time and I went to talk to her and she helped me plan for ALL of my classes ahead of time, and checks up with me on whether or not I'm following my schedule. She's a real sweetheart and I recommend highly.

Fantastic professor! She is so nice and wants so badly to help her students learn the Spanish language! Seriously - take her class, and go to her office hours - she loves when students go to office hours (even if you don't need help - just to visit). She is so amazing. Highly recommended.

Profesora Villar is so sweet and enthusiastic. She is always smiling even though the class is kind of early. Encourages class participation but helps the conversation along. Tests are pretty straightforward. She is super helpful if you have any problems and is very understanding. The literature was really interesting. TAKE THE CLASS.

Marta is a great Spanish professor. The class can seem overwhelming but she is extremely helpful if you don't understand something. She will answer all emails and she will always arrange to meet you if you can't make it to office hours. She really likes students who go to office hours with interesting questions, so I recommend that.

She's very understanding, and although the first day of class was a little overwhelming, I soon realized that she does not expect you to be fluent and will help you get your ideas across. Make sure you participate in class!!
