Comment:

To be honest a part of me feels like people only like Newman because he hands out A's like candy. Whatever though I feel like he just does that to help honors freshman balance their schedules with human sit looming. You'll be surprised how much you learned in his class if you continue on with accounting.

Comment:

He is an amazing person and he really cares about his students but he is a terrible teacher. If you don't spend a lot of time outside of class studying the material, you will not do well on the tests. However, he does try to give mostly As and some Bs, so it won't kill your GPA if you do poorly on the tests.

Comment:

Dr. Newman is a wonderful mentor but as a teacher, he doesn't really teach well. I find that he is accessible outside of class and he does an amazing job when it comes to helping you network better. However, the main issue is that he tends to go off on tangents when it comes to material. I still think believe he is a really good guy.

This class is a nightmare for some and fun for others. All grades are assigned subjectively--you won't find any exams or right/wrong homework here. I had about 12-15 hours of work outside of class each week, so those with day jobs beware. The textbooks were great, but the professor gave 0 lectures during the semester.

Honestly one of the better professors at UH. He cares about you both enjoying and learning in his class. He does try to sway you into accounting a lot. If you put in a decent amount of effort you will make an A 100%.

Starts course off stating extremely complex concepts involved in act. as though we already are acct majors. He does intimidatingly offer help, however doesn't go in detail over quizzes, or explain in detail the exams, and rushes through them so if you failed, thats too bad. Says "no dumb question" but answers your questions as if your a DA-nightmar

Take this professor! I went into this class scared but I did fine. He is auto tone and sounds boring but he explains well and prepares you for the tests. What really helped me were the reviews he went over before the test. I would study the material he went over really hard and the optional test review before my tests. Also on HW watch the hints!

Dr. Newman is almost always LATE. He is accessible outside of class and he is very straightforward. His personal stories are hilarious (ask him how he met his wife and how soon they got married.) He's even got a book on Amazon that he wrote about love. Amazing teacher and if you're in Bauer Honors, you've really got no choice but to take him.

The absolute best professor at the university. He is so caring and respectful. Only wants the best for his students and he even keeps a fridge full of drinks for his students all the time. Will stay after class for you and is very responsive to his messages. Always puts his students first and will make many pursue Accounting. Worth 10/10 stars.

Doctor Newman is by far the best professor I've had at UH. He's straightforward when it comes to teaching, but as a person, he's just so caring and sweet! I learnt so much in his class, he usually teaches a theme and then hands out a take-home quiz about it. Reading the book helps a lot! I recommend practicing exercises to get a 100 on his tests!

Dr. Newman is one of my favorite professors, I had him for honors financial and managerial accounting, ethics, and communications class. He is a compansionate man and gives good life and career advice. You need to practice book problems to get an A in this class and get a study group together to work on the Wileyplus HW.

Dr. Newman is one of the best, if not the best professor at UH. He has the entire package, intelligence regarding his subjects, networking opportunities which he will share with students from day one, fondness for teaching that is easily perceptible in his attitude, enthusiasm that is catch-able, and overall just a fantastic professor. Recommend!

Comment:

One of my favorite professors at UH. He loves what he does, and truly cares about everyone's success. He will try to make you an ACCT major (just persist if you really don't want to). Overall, very laid back class, not much stress, but I learned a lot in just 4 weeks. Be ready to study before tests. Curves are decent.

He is an excellent professor that truly cares about you and wants the best for you. His class is hard but not too hard and he's fair (to the point that I consider lenient). It can get old if he keeps pushing you to be an accounting major and his teaching won't always click but he gets the job done.

Wow! Dr. Newman was a truly inspirational professor! He truly cares about these success of his students! He grading criteria is clear and concise. He loves sending emails/reminders and usually includes some sort of inspirational message!

While he can sometimes be hard to follow in class( if you don't go to class having already read the book), he is extremely willing and happy to help both in and out of class. I recommend going to his office hours over questions in class, because he is able to explain everything a lot better. One of the few profs that reallycares about his students

He also works very hard to bring in employers and provide students with network opportunities. I would take him again for sure.
