Comment:

Professor Rea is overall a solid choice, especially if you prefer taking exams over projects/research papers/etc. His lectures are okay, but you can still do well without attending class. Make sure to study his PowerPoints through and through, as he pulls details from them to put on his exams. It's not the easiest class, but it's definitely doable.

Comment:

Very nice professor and willing to answer questions outside of class. Lectures are good but tests are very hard so be sure to know every detail for exam when studying. Read textbook in order to understand pathways better since his exams ask about them.

I gave him 3 stars just for being open and available to any questions during or after class hours, not because he made the class great (although he really is a walking textbook). Prof. Rea definitely goes through the motions during his super long slided lectures, but to be fair I learned a lot from his class.

He's great. The class was straightforward and easy. Three tests and a final- all weighted equally. The final replaces the lowest test grade.

Dr. Rea is a great professor and lecturer. He's extremely helpful at office hours and does his best to help you understand the material. If you want a good grade you have to work for it. Study early, review his slides numerous times, add your own notes, refer to textbook for mechanisms/diagrams if you need a better understanding, and quiz yourself.

Professor Rea is really cool. Funny, hilarious and a massive Coogs fan. He doesn't reply back to emails, but the grading is crystal clear. Read his slides min 5 times before the test because the minute details that you'll miss will come on the exam. 50qs on the first 3 exams. 100 on the final. Final replaces lowest. All curved. Good luck !!

Great teacher! Very nice, has a good sense of humor. Lectures were very helpful and interesting. He presented material very clear. Ppts were very organized, helped to study for the tests a lot!!! I would recommend him!

My favorite teacher in UH, funny, teaches well, tests reflect what he teaches ( read in book but he literally stars the slides you need to read over). I don't understand any of the ratings before this. He gives around 40 points extra credit quizzes (on a scale of 400). If you do as you please in class from first 4 tests, no need to take final.

Definitely not the professor you want to take for a easy A. His slides are vague and his tests are really detailed. In order to do well you need to follow the book and look over the slides as he gets some stuff the slides. Notes to study for test aren't given straightforward to you so you need to buckle down and study far ahead

Awful professor! Extremely unorganized, boring, and his notes and lectures are so VAGUE and his tests are very specific. I'm an A+ student but I struggled a lot with this class. Don't take him!

Rea isn't a very good teacher but I'd use his slides as a guide to what to focus on in the textbook. Make sure you read the chapters and going to class helps but isn't necessary. Not an easy class because of the amount of information covered but as long as you study, tests shouldn't be too bad.

Lecture notes are very general and vague while tests are very specific. Manages to make an interesting material boring and unnecessarily difficult while still managing to add material irrelevant to the class. Do not take this class if you enjoy cellular biology as he will ruin it for you.

Tests are very detailed, but his notes are very vague. It's hard to understand his lecture and hard to take notes since he talks fast and continuously. It's easy to lose your your passion for science. Has no clue how to teach. Don't take him unless you really have or you can study everything on your own.

Dr. Rea is a horrible teacher. He's very disorganized, adds new material to lecture notes 5 mins prior to class, not consistent with test, and makes horrible dry jokes. Please avoid taking this professor. The book is very helpful.

horrible prof, very unorganized, can't teach. He has no idea how to schedule exams and has no idea what is going to be on them. he told us to buy one book, but the "lectures" and exams were from the other book... everyone just groaned at him! "lectures" were hard to follow and very frustrating. ruined my high gpa, please don't take him...
