Comment:

She's tough, she's eccentric, but she's awesome. It's easy to tell she really cares about her students and will always help if you reach out to her, though she can come across harshly in class. Be sure to get started on the project early though, it's a beast.

Half of the class was spent on talking about her cats and her big bottle of pills that she brought with her to class! She was a complete waste of time and money! Extremely disorganized and did not know how to teach! She is over the limit of Fault Tolerance! Not to mention that she played favoritism too!

cmsc311, 351, 411, 420 --- Dr. Hugue is a lot different than other cs prof. She doesn't force students to just do spitback on exams and actually cares about her students. Sure, may waste a lot of class time and tell you stories that you may not want to hear, but as long as you read the book and ask her when you don't understand, you'll do well.

Don't take her. Unorganized, doesn't write her own notes (she uses notes from another Math professor), less than half the class is used to teach Math. Worst teacher in the department, yet she writes the hardest tests. So the choice is a useless teacher with hard tests, or good teachers with easier tests. I had hugue back in the late 90's and early 2k. Very smart lady. But by far, one of the worst teachers I ever had. Really helpful at office hours, if you can catch her. So many students come to visit her that its ridiculous. Her lectures are at alot of times irrelevant to things you really need to learn.And she is extremely unorganized/unstruc

You will get below a 70% on both the midterm and the final, because they are ridiculous. Fortunately, this class is curved to a ridiculous extent, and the labs and quizzes are relatively easy for a competent student.

She is a good person - very social and funny. However, as a professor she is useless and tends to make some mistakes. Just stick to the book and you'll be fine.

her lectures are fun, she can really teach when she wants to but most of her lectures are tend to be more social than learning oriented. I like her and would not think twice about taking her again. The only thing is you really need to study outside the class, and read the book and notes on your own to do good in class.

she tries way too hard to be "cool" and "offensive". on the first day of class she took an umbrella off of a desk and stuck it under her braless breast to see if it would stay. she made at least 3 really crappy weed jokes about CMSC 420 (get it). etc. the projects and quizzes are easy but the tests are really long, although there is a huge curve.

I took 420 in the summer. She was the worst professor (very vulgar, and would be nice to the "hot" guys in class) She had very difficult projects and worse exams. Everyone in the class freaked out the entire summer. She once threw a book at me in class!!!

You either love her or you hate her. If you hate her its because its hard to learn from her lectures, her test are litterally huge packets, and because she barely ever sticks to the topic on hand. If you love her its because she really wants you to do well and is very flexible and leniant if you are reasonable with her. I would reccomend her.

Dr. Hugue is a great professor. She really cares about students. You either like her or you don't. When I took 311, I had a hard time with her.... I had to take it a second time. However, I really liked her later and took 411 and 420 with her. I would take her again.

I had Dr. Hugue for 3 400 level comp sci. classes, and she is by far the best teacher I have ever had. She actually cares about the students and that they learn instead of just spitting out information.
