I took a self guided course using the ALEKS. We had to attend class and work through the program. He didnt necessarily teach the class but was there to answer questions. He was very eager to help and answer questions. Overall nice man, very clear on what was expected and would take another class from him

Professor did not really teach. At all. Had to teach all the material to myself. Tests were not easy, had to work hard to get a B on a test. Homework took between 30 minutes and 1 hour to do. Would not recommend.

DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH MATH. I am making an A because I am good at math but if you are not please don't take his class. He stands in front of the board while writing problems until he is done and doesn't answer questions. He talks to board or at the ceiling. He is very sweet and kind but he cannot help you if you struggle with math.

He puts a problem up and then he solves it. Rinse and repeat. That is all he does throughout the class. He sometimes asks if anyone has a question, but if the question is not "how do I solve one specific problem" he then refers them to the math lab. He seems to not care that no-one understands him as he jumps to the next example on his lesson plan.

Worst professor I have ever had. He did absolutely no help. He moved so quickly and all he did was one example for each type of problem solving technique. The grade is four tests and a final exam. No extra credit and the tests are extremely difficult and you can not use graphing calculators in his class.

Comment:

Not a bad guy just doesn't teach. He does one example for each kind of problem and then moved on. Never stops to ask if we understand or need to see another example. If you take his class I strongly recommend making use of the mymathlab or getting tutoring. Your heads consists of 4 tests and a final. Your homework grade can replace the lowest test.

This is by far the worst professor to take if you need to learn math. He is not helpful whatsoever, his lectures are extremely long and boring, and he treats you like you are in high school. He doesn't seem like he enjoys teaching at all. Thank goodness for the mathlab or I would not have passed.

hardest class i've taken, he covers so much material in one class, if he has 10 mins left of class he will start a new section. class started with 30 or so people ended with 7. 4 test and the final are your only grades that he will not post until the last day of the semester. i wouldn't take him again if he was the last math teacher available

Mr. McKinney is very good at math but not very good at being a teacher. His lectures are tedious and boring and I never stayed for all of class. He doesn't want people to fail, but most do. I taught myself the majority of the material on MyMathLab.com. Definitely do the homework even though it's optional!
