I read these comments about running away from this class and thought "nah I can do this" I was sadly mistaken. I cannot do this. His English is poor. There is no point in going to lectures because I can't understand him and he doesn't talk about whats on his powerpoints. I taught myself this whole course and ended up changing majors because of it

Dr. Kim has a very thick accent which makes it hard to understand what he is saying. Also, his tests are multiple choice but he expects work to be shown otherwise only partial credit is given. Get ready to teach yourself everything you need to know for this class because he is not going to help.

Worst professor I have ever met or taken. He know his Chemistry but cannot explain it with clarity which totally sucked. I really wanted to learn the principles of chemistry in spring 14 but this guy ruined my hopes and made a hell. Take this class if you are already advanced in chemistry or have taken the class and don't want to come to lectures.

He spends far to long trying to explain things that have nothing to do with the lab. His quizzes are long and overcomplicated. He is not careful inputting his answers which is a huge deal for passing.

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION. I have a Masters Degree. I am not afraid of working hard.. This LAB was miserable. Unclear, outrageous quizzes, nit picky, language barrier, the list goes on. Take anyone else. You have been warned.

Nightmare. Quizzes disasterous bc of programming errors (he "programs" them). You second guess yourself because when your answer is correct his quiz says you are wrong. He focuses on abstract elements of what you learn in lecture. Confusing.

This class was by no mean easy but if you work hard and take notes carefully, you will do well. If you have questions, go to his office. He is very helpful when you ask him in person. I learn a lot in his class, and it greatly helps me as I prepare for the MCAT.

Do NOT take this class. I've never written a review before, but had to for this one. He is possibly the worst professor; unclear, tests on things not relevant, etc. A whole class went to the student office to complain. I just took his final and he made us take out our LICENSES to make sure we sat in the right row! What the actual .....

Professor Kim is a tough but good teacher. He expects you to work hard in order to do well on his tests. But he also gives a lot of extra credits. He is very helpful if you visit his office. Always answer my questions thoroughly. Put in the effort and you will do well!

Horrible!!! Inconsiderate and does not grade fairly. Lab reports are horrible..for example question 1 may have 94 inputs and then there is a total of 8 questions that may also have several inputs. Absolutely Ridiculous! He assumes that you should already know the material. Amazing how I received an A in lecture but a D lab! Stay clear!

Never gave up on me. I had a grade of C at the midpoint and pulled an A out of the class. He even helped me with my lab reports even though I was not in his lab section. One of the nicest men you will ever meet. A tough teacher, well yes to some extent, but we all need someone like him to humble us. If you study, you will make the grade.

Overall not a horrible teacher not the greatest neither. I received a well earned C in his lab class. And a B in the lecture. Chemistry is very difficult as is. If you put the effort in and come to each lab prepared to do the lab for that week jotting in your lab journal and showing effort you will pass. Just do the work!!!

This is a difficult class, no doubt. If you put in the work, and respect, then Dr. Kim is an excellent teacher. Sometimes he can be hard to understand (accent). He grades harshly & expects excellence. He is very helpful if you go to his office hours in the LRC. Take him if you want to learn chemistry from a REAL scientist, eccentricities and all.

Very frustrating class. You cannot understand him very well, his WebAssign is set up wrong but if you are passing the assignment then he won't give you the grade you deserve, doesn't use icollege, and he has a bit of an ego...won't admit when he is wrong even if it is to your detriment. I made a B but I really had to work for it and get help.
