Comment:

Not sure why she is allowed to teach freshman. She was my first professor ever, and quite frankly complicated my transition into higher education. I now have an MSc and can absolutely say she is the most demeaning professor I've ever encountered. She is extremely difficult and not for your growth but simply to demonstrate her superior intelligence

Dr. Hopkins was a great professor. Her choice of homework combined with what she taught in class made it really easy to understand calculus. I wish I could have her for Calc 2. People don't like her because they have to do work. Well guess what, you won't understand any math without doing work. It's just how math works.

Dr. Hopkins -doesn't like students -3 unexcused absences and you flunk (just email when you'll be gone; its excused) -VERY CLEAR when teaching -Homework is not graded (quiz over it once a week) -Study exams before each test -3 tests and final Not the best Prof. but if you do the homework and sometimes go to tutor; you will pass.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER! Do not take this class, expecially if you are an incomming freshman. She is SO RUDE! Does not want to help students, could honestly care less about any student. If you miss class and you need extra help she will tell you to learn on your own time. She does not have time for students! AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!!!

Let me quote Dr. Hopkins: 1."I was grading your tests and had to go to the bar...You students drive me to drink." 2. "I administer the test which I can do in 10 minutes not to prove that I know more math than you, because I know I know more than you because I have a PhD.” She gets angry if you ask questions. 2/3 of class dropped class. AVOID!

Dr. Hopkins is not an enjoyable person to be around. She is extremely rude to students and makes sure that they know she is samrer than them. I have gotten an A in every algebra class Ive ever taken and ended up with an F in her class. Her teaching style is almost impossible to learn and makes no sense. Her attendence policy is way too strict too

Dr. Hopkins is just simply rude and intimidating. Students should not be afraid to ask a question. She puts down her students and belittles them. Although I had taken Pre-Cal in high school, I did not feel prepared for her teaching style and attitude.

This is the worst educator that I have ever experienced. I took 4 years of advanced math from high school and left her 100 level course with an F. She is extremely rude, and over complicates things to the point where it confuses you. Don't ask her a question, because she will just made a rude comment to you and not answer the question. AVOID

This class is very easy. She is very clear and she is very interested in the subject. Yes, sometimes she can act crazy, but whenever you have questions or don't understand something she is there to help. Also if you get test anxiety she gives short tests and quizzes but they are handwritten in cursive.

I don't why lots of people don't like Dr.Hopkins. It's true that she's crazy sometime, but she's a great math professor. She's very nice to me and help me out. If you take notes in class and do your homework, it's not that hard to get a A. But I feel a little uncomfortable that her quizzes and exams are all handwriting instead of being typed.

she is very hard-nosed and very detail oriented. you take a lot of notes, and have quizzes over the homework quite often, but she lets you use your homework one the quizzes. Gives partial credit which is always a plus. Overall she is a good teacher, very insightful. not a great communicator though.

Very rigorous, expects a lot from students. Is extremely helpful if she can see you are putting the work in. She is very good at teaching the material, and I've always learned a great deal in her classes. Her grading is very fair, and if you do all the assignments you'll get a decent grade. Expect to work hard, though.

This is a VERY DIFFICULT class. We started out with 15 or so students in our class, and by drop date, we had 8 students; however, Dr. Hopkins is very helpful. She knows the materials. Just ask questions over what you don't understand and she'll explain it to you. As long as you try in this class, you'll do fine.

Comment:

Overall, a very difficult/rewarding professor. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she randomly collects homework for quiz grades or gives out quizzes. Tests aren't that long and there is a TON of partial credit. Just be sure to ask questions and study for EVERYTHING! The textbook isn't that great, but she's changing it next year.
