Attendance is important in this class, as well as reading. He gives out A LOT of readings, but he goes through them with you to make sure you understand. The only tests you have are the midterm and final, but you do have to write 6 two page papers that are fairly easy.

He was a pleasure to have had - granted I was interested in the subject, but he was very attentive ensuring the class was on the same page as he went through his lessons. The homework load may seem daunting (20 pg avg. reading and a response paper of your desired length) but once you got into the rhythm of it, no big deal. He's very supportive too!

smart guy. bad teacher. don't get me wrong, classes were interesting but you have no idea what you are responsible for. he says himself that you have to "wow" him on an essay to even get an A-. i dont think he knows himself how he's going to grade everyone. way too much for a core class. this class killed my perfect gpa, don't do it to yourself

Honestly, he's okay. Really smart guy but the class discussions were not directed properly. Student presentations are NOT useful in a theory class like this. He seemed a bit disengaged the entire semester. He's really open to student comments, especially the obviously offensive and dumb ones. All & all..pretty okay guy.

Currah states, "I think some students are smarter than they look and some are dumber than they appear."

The exams in this class are difficult, and the professor is discouraging. He says that Political Science papers don't get A's and that he has to be impressed for a student to get a good grade.

Comment:
I had take quite a few Women's studies courses prior to taking Currah's class. While the readings were engaging as were some of the student presentations, I wish that the class discussion had been a bit more directed in order to provide us with in depth analysis. I felt like the assignments were fair, and we had plenty of time to complete them.

A very intelligent, open and encouraging Professor. I guarantee if you look up the words "arrogant" "rude" or "horrible" in the dictionary, you would not see his face.:p.

Please, do not take this course with this professor. Talks to students as though their peasants. Arrogant and quite rude. On top of all this, his teaching is horrible. Smart but lacks the ability to teach.

Amazing professor. I took a Politics and Sexuality class with him and he was extremely insightful and passionate. I am taking another class with him now. He grades papers tough, but he revises them and lets you rewrite them. Very willing to talk and help you improve writing and comprehension of the course work.

This class is VERY hard. He tells you right up front that it is hard to get an A. Lots of READING posted in blackboard. 1 miterm-1 final-1 10pgs essay on readings. Tests are 3 parts: 1 essay given in advance-1 mini essay-5 concepts-ideas. Prof. is helpful and class is interesting. Lots of philosophical thinking.
