Comment:

Like the others said, do not take this class unless you truly have a passion for art and memorization. Lectures were extremly bland and hard to follow. The tests were very difficult due to poor preparation for it on his part. Nice guy, but not very helpful when you ask him questions, I seemed to always get vague answers.

Unless you're really into art and want to memorize artists paintings, when they were painted, and the "type" of painting it is don't take this class. If you're not that into art, you're going to hate coming to class. He's a good professor, just not my type of class.

Paul is simply the best professor I've had. Very helpful, energetic professor who manage to keep the enthusiasm level of the class so high that you don't want it to be over! I would highly recommend everyone who wants to take an art history class to take it with professor Paul Tucker.

This class is wonderful. Prof Tucker is incredibly knowledgeable. It's a big class, try to go meet with him. He'll remember you. Not too hard, drops lowest quiz and the tests are easy if you prepare. He's a very reasonable grader, and there are no papers. Highly recommended.

Tucker is wonderful. His lectures are engaging and clear. No papers for this class, just five quizzes (he drops lowest grade), one midterm, and one final. I never read the text and I got all As, but I wish I had read more for my own enrichment. TAKE THIS CLASS.

AMAZING. I really didn't understand art until i took this class. Tucker has a heart of gold and just loves to teach. He is a world - renowned monet expert... just a pure gem! Take his class.. I LOVE TUCKER!

Prof. Tucker is PHENOMENAL! He's so engaged, and he clearly loves teaching art history. I really like that his slide lectures are laid out in the syllabus, and they actually correspond with the readings for the week. I also admire the textbook choices. It is especially refreshing to have an Art History prof. who actually contextualizes everything!

All I have to say is WOW! He knows his art like little kids knowing their alphabet. I am a science major and took his class for the heck of it. He is funny and can be formal to informal in a second...a bit all over the place But what can you expect from geniuses!

Brings art history alive in myriad ways: psychological, anecdotal, philosophical, historical, and personal. Among the best teachers I have ever had. His classes leave you yearning to go further than you ever intended to. A masterpiece in the UMass art dept.

what a wonderful professor. i literally left class everyday feeling inspired and blown away by what he talked about. so glad i took prof. tucker's art history class. it was an amazing course and i hope to take more classes with him in the future.
