I had Sample for hist to 1855. He's very good if you're an auditory learner, which I am not. He lectures as if it's a story and speaks clearly. However, I ended with a D, my friend with an F, and my roommate with an F. HARD CLASS! Notes are very hard to take, and the tests are SUPER hard. If you don't like history, I wouldn't recommend this class.

VERY hard class. History is extremely boring to me and he did not help that one bit. He makes a lot of lame jokes that quite honestly just annoyed me. Get points for attendance. One quiz per week online that you can retake until you get a 100% (thought that was good). Tests are open book but were extremely hard to me.

Sample is a very good teacher. Very knowledgeable. He lectures every single day. You need to take a lot of notes. Tests are open note and open book- somewhat difficult, but notes make it easy. I never read anything in the book until test day. Online quiz due every Sunday. They're easy. You can retake them until you get a 100%. Attendance is graded.

Sample is everything you could possibly want in a history teacher! I, personally, could listen to him talk for hours because of the way he makes each lesson into a "story." The tests are open book and open note. I highly recommend taking his class!

LOVES TO TALK, pretty funny too, easy class, homework answers are in the back of the book, test follow the book and you can use the notes and book on the test.

He's a great teacher and throws in fun trivia. He jokes that he lived during King Arthur's time; he knows the subject so well, it's like he did live then. But if you don't enjoy American History, you probably won't like the class.

If you like to hear a guy talk for almost 3 hrs, this is your class. Turned a really interesting time in history to blah blah blah. Does give good study guides, been better if he had just given us those, gone straight to the tests and let us skip those less than helpful long lectures.

He's really really easy. The only excuse for not getting a good grade in his class is not doing your work. It's open book and open note tests and the answers to the homework is in the back of the book and he doesn't care if you use it. He's awesome. But you get sleepy sometimes when he turns the lights out to lecture.

He lectured as if history is one big story, hardly ever used the textbook. He never helped you when you needed it and would never clarify on what he wanted exactly on work.

Great professor. He truly knows his subject. He comes off as arrogant but that is just a front. He cracks a smile occassionaly. Go to the study sessions they help. Start on your paper early.

Extremely knowledgeable. People say he is arrogant, but it's just a front he puts up. He is really a rather nice guy. He probably gives one of the most interesting lectures in the whole university. He makes history come alive. I highly recommend this class and proffessor.
