Comment:
All his notes are on his own course website, along with practice problems, so the textbook is absolutely not needed. No (mandatory) homework aside from the one semester-long group project. 4 exams plus a final, too. He can be a pretty funny guy, and seems to genuinely want students to do well. Though he is better for 302 than 201

I really liked Dr. Datseris. He wasn't super engaging or hilarious, but he just seemed like a really nice guy. The class had an ungodly amount of homework, but the group project required a good amount of teamwork, planning, and interpretation. I would gladly take one of his classes again, even though the amount of homework was stressful.

Flies through SolidWorks very fast. Very hard to keep up if you have never used the program before. He also gives very little explanation for the group project you have to do and it is a lot of work. It is not a hard class and you should get an A if you do your work and show up.

Went over a bunch of examples every class. He would put up practice exams and the topics for all of the questions for all of the exams. Very clear and straight forward explanations. He would also have you do work in class so you could learn from your mistakes.

Datseris is a good teacher. His classes are pretty basic, he uses a projector and white board and does a ton of problems. He explains things clearly but your entire grade is based on exams. I suggest studying the examples he does in class and the sample exam problems he gives you.

He really is a nice guy but this class is a joke. HW really needs to be allowed to be done on your own time outside of class that way he can teach inside of class and do more examples. Instead he only taught 2 days a week and had to fly through all of the topics to catch up. Exams always had surprises on them. I never used the book for this class.

He's a very nice guy. He does have a pretty good greek accent, but it's not an extremely bad one. He's easy on the exam grading. He likes to see high scores, and since he is the dpt head he makes the exams most of the times, or at least one of the questions. He likes his students to interact, and does really good interactive class examples.

Goes through solidworks like you have already used the program and know what your doing. Goes extremely fast through the examples. Better off waiting for the TA to show you how to do things or to just fool around with the program yourself. Final project counts for most of the class

First of all, do NOT buy the book yourself. Get some friends and split the cost of it. There's no need to buy the book, since you only use it for homework assignments. Second, Solidworks is difficult to use at first, and Datseris doesn't do a very good job of explaining it. The TAs do a bad job grading, but just go to class, do the hw, u'll b fi

Lots of homework in this class..The hmk grader was often difficult to deal with. Homework was graded with no explanation of what was incorrect. It's kind of tough to learn from what you did wrong this way. Project was very time consuming and team size was way too big (6 people). Would recommend a Solid Works book in addition to the required text.

LOTS of hw, but he helps as much as he can. he only canceled class once! i learned solid works from a friend who used it full-time. my friend & a company i worked for both thought this class hasnt taught basic, critical skills necessary to having a drawing survive in a company's archive for a while now, which isnt Datseris's fault its a uri issue

The students who rated this professor previous to this are clearly misinformed. MCE 302 is not an easy class. HW and attendance are a must... Also there are only 2 exams during the semester and a final. On top of the HW there are also group projects. Don't be fooled by the MCE 201 students... Datseris get 2 thumbs up

nice guy, always walks into class with a grin on his face. I don't really like the way he teaches though, its straight from the book and hes not very good at getting points accross.

Not cut out to be a professor. Cancels class half the time, leaves the outcome of the class up to the TA's. Never in his office during his office hours.will not help if you have a problem. This class is quite possibly the easiest 'A' in engineering, but unfortunatley your grade does not depend on your work, it depends on his mood, and the TA's mood

Good class...good teacher... AWFUL TA's! Homework must be submitted to TA's (thats right, theres 3) via email. They lose Homework assignments and blame you for it. Cannot organize grades at all, and have no leiniency for late work that's only late because they lost it...Other than that, the Datseris aspect of the class is pretty good.
