My favorite professor so far at UH. I actually looked forward to attend his classes because he made them very entertaining. Tests are very easy as long as you attend classes and read the book.

Comment:

The subject matter in this course is ridiculously easy. However, for some reason attendance is required even though the lectures are almost completely useless. Got an A on every test, and still got a B because of TopHat participation.

He is an amazing professor, I don't understand why people complain about how hard the tests are, if you show up to class and pay attention than you will do fine on the tests. Great Prof. makes the material interesting and engaging.

Comment:

This professor doesn't get enough credit. His class is really easy and he's pretty funny too. DeFrank is very knowledgable and includes TedTalks in lecture which are interesting. Show up and take notes and you wont need to study much for exams. Attendance is just participation through tophat, which is also incredibly easy. I definitely recommend.

You have to go to class!!! His tests are half from the book and half from videos only shown in class. I studied a little bit, not that much compared to other classes. Just vocab. And I participated in the class with questions and comments. I looked forward to his class every day! He is in the top 3 best teachers I have ever taken. Got an A.

wish I could give him Zero star. Take any other professor but this guy. Please please please do yourself some favor and don't take Management with him even if you don't have any choice and this class is needed for you to graduate.

Professor Defrank is funny and inspirational, but overall his class is difficult. 5 exams (final is optional) and tophat questions are used for participation, extra credit, and attendance. Go to class, take GOOD notes, and STUDY STUDY STUDY for his exams. The exams are hard!

Comment:

Defrank is a very inspirational professor at UH. Although his class is a little bit challenge because he doesn't post his powerpoint but you never have to do any papers or quizzes in his class. Just take decent notes, ask questions, and pay attention to details. There are 4 tests and optional final, so prepare to study and listen to his example.

DeFrank was amazing and was very clear about what the class would take. I never read the book and only looked over my notes and made an A in the class with out a problem. The tests are based off of his lectures so try to make a friend for notes if you can't make it to class! He is a really funny guy and has a lot know valuable knowledge.

Thought management would be a pretty easy class, but it wasn't. DeFrank does not upload his lectures to BB which means you have to attend class. DeFrank uses TopHat for attendance and participation points. His tests were very hard, his lectures included videos which you had to take notes on and for most of the semester you couldn't hear them.

Comment:

Grading 5 tests w/ extra credit questions about current events, he drops the lowest test and uses tophat for participation, No HW! The test mostly about videos that we watched in class (DONT SKIP CLASS) and about vocab from the textbook. Focus on vocab and pay attention in class! Not a hard class. He is a very interesting professor to listen to!

He's a great guy and does agood job at teaching the material, but his test are SOO difficult. You study and think you passed with at least a B, but you ended up getting a C. The answer choices are so similar to one another, so it doesn't make any sense. I though this class would be easier but it wasn't. I would recommend anyone else.

He's a really good professor and makes a really dull subject fun to listen to. Can't skip any classes unless you have someone who will give you their notes (best be detailed). Do as many Tophat extra credit stuff as you can.

He is lecture heavy, but has articles, videos and stories that he uses to teach as well. he funny and will have you laughing! he uses tophat so you have to go to class. there are five exams and he drops the lowest one. I would definitely take him again!

Defrank is a decent professor. The exams are tough but not impossible to make an A. The key to pass his exams are studying the notes from class (powerpoints) & videos, LEARN THE VOCAB WORDS (be prepared there's alot of words, but most are super easy common sense) and lastly READ READ READ from the textbook. Most of the questions come from the book!

Comment:

Fairly decent person, as a teacher. The course only had three grades and they were all tests! Maximum of 150 points, exams 50 points each. Show up to class, were test questions will appear from lectures and videos. Other students would tell me they did so well on their exams, but wasn't the case for me. I woudn't take him, for his grading criteria.

Not bad. Do the extra credit opportunities. Pretty straight forward material. Just make sure to attend class because he will ask several questions about videos/ talking points he made during class in the exams! Just recalling! I like the class setup and grading criteria. The tests aren't hard if you study well; the first two are the easiest.

If you are looking for an easy A dont take this class. Class is based off 4 exams final will replace the lowest test grade. His lectures are interesting & funny. Doesnt post slides, STUDY YOUR NOTES, pay attention to his lecture & to the videos. There is probably less than 10 questions on each exam from the textbook. Only gave 4 pts in extra credit
