Comment:

Prof. Nixon is absolutely hilarious! The textbook is boring, but helpful. Every day there is an in class quiz on the reading from the night before (but he puts study guides online that simplify things). And the study guides are great for tests. At the end of the semester he gives you whichever grade is higher--with exams and quizzes or just exams.

I LOVE NIXON! He has the driest sense of humor, which is actually kind of funny. He understood that most of the people in the class were there for a GE credit, so he mostly just gave the information you needed to test on. His test were very straight forward and easy to comprehend. Would recommend this class to anyone trying to fill the GE!

He is a nice old man and really interested in the subject he teaches. There are in-class quizzes everyday based on the reading. No homework besides reading the chapter. Make sure to read and keep up then you'll do fine.

Comment:

Nixon is not really a good teacher. I actually really love geology, but the way he taught the class made it seem dry and uninteresting even though rocks are really awesome. I learned little to nothing in the actual class and was leaning mostly on prior knowledge to get by in this class, and the textbook taught me everything else.

Nixon is horrible! His lectures are VERY dry and hard to stay awake in. Going to class was such a pain every day. Daily quizzes are easy if you read the chapter review that he gives out. However, his tests are VERY specific, and it is hard to remember all the information he wants. It is a very hard and boring subject and he makes it worse.

Dr. Nixon has a really dry humor, but I think he's really funny. He's super interested in the subject and wants his students to love it. He makes it as fun as geology can be, but going to class is kind of pointless sometimes.

Daily quizzes come straight from the chapter reviews. Took a little to learn his test patterns, but not too bad. Go to the test review the class before the test! He LOVES the subject. Go to lecture and review the chapter reviews and the tests shouldn't be too bad. Really nice guy though

Prof. Nixon is very interested in the subject he teaches. The daily quizzes come straight from his reviews. However, the tests aren't quite as straight forward. He tries very hard to make a boring subject interesting, and his class is probably comparable to most other geology classes.

I cannot BELIEVE the comments on here. Prof. Nixon was my FAVORITE teacher and I had absolutely no interest in geology. WOW! I don't know if it was just in his Honors class, but he was so awesome and so helpful. And, his honors class had the same assignments and were put on the curve with his other classes. TAKE THE HONORS CLASS! I loved it!!!!

I felt like the class was very simple. We had daily quizzes & he puts up the chapter review you will be quizzed on, bolding possible test questions. Tests were easy & if I paid attention in class and read the chapter reviews I was fine! He is boring at times, but so is geology. We never had homework & I knew what to expect everyday.

USEless class. The lectures are boring boring BORING, and Brother Nixon is super rude to students that talk, text, or leave class early. The tests are totally random and have almost nothing to do with what's talked about in class. Take it from someone else.

This was a very hard class. I had a hard time with the tests, I felt they were not over anything we covered in class, almost like lecture and outside reading didn't line up at all and the tests were tricky. I would not recommend taking this course.

No idea why everyone else is complaining about this class. This was by far one of my easiest classes of the semester. Attended every class and memorized the study guide and never had to read the book. Dry at times but easy if you are willing to put in a bit of work.

Professor Nixon is obviously passionate about the subject. He tries his very hardest to make class interesting and sometimes he is really funny, but overall this class is pretty boring. It isn't that hard if you read the chapter reviews and memorize every fact on them. He curves everything nicely; I got B's on all the tests and ended up with an A-

He was a nice guy. But his lectures for me were very hard to follow. I didn't really take notes or read the textbook. I read the chapter reviews like he advises and got low B's on all of the tests. I did go to class all the time so I don't know if the daily quizzes helped. I got a B+. Much harder class then I thought it was going to be.

Comment:

Professor Nixon is a great guy but his class is a complete joke!! Never have I gotten a b- in any course ever!!! I studied 6-8 hours for each exam and got high c's. I cannot believe his grading policy absolutely worthless.
