One of the worst professors Stony Brook has to offer! He is immensely stubborn and rude. He is extremely lazy! OUR GRADES ARE BEING PRODUCED INCORRECTLY AND ABOUT A MONTH LATE.UNRELIABLE! EXAMS ARE FILLED WITH MISTAKES. I DO NOT WISH THE HORROR OF HIM TO BEFALL ANYONE. All the positive comments here are written for him or by him.

exams seem to come from no where. It's easy to pass but very difficult to do well due to the curve. Exams are short and seem to always have mistakes on them, damaging the validity for the tests. I kinda regret taking this class, 131 was probably a better choice.

I have to comment on the remark made below. Yes that first midterm was not handled properly, but he acknowledged his mistake. He offered to scale up the grades of those who did not have diagrams and offered a make-up exam. He really tries and he's not that bad of a professor.

insisted we finish an exam where 7 of 18 problems didnt have enough information to complete the problem and only due to public outcry did he curve it a tiny amount. known to video tape TAs to enforce late to lab -10 point penalty SECONDS after time its supposed to start. lecture consists on clicker multiple choice questions on untaught material.

Not an Easy A class. The people before said he was a good professor but I don't agree. he doesn't make anything clear and his lecture notes aren't at the difficulty level of his exams where he "twists" the questions. You basically have to teach yourself.

Definitely not an easy class, and you do have to work at it. He's a good prof though. He is much easier to understand than the others, and tries to make it fun. He's got jokes, so it kinda keeps you hooked at least a little. Very helpful if you go to him after or outside of class. Must know concepts and equations inside and out. TOUGH tests!!

This guy was awesome. You really did feel like he wanted you to understand what was going on. This was the first physics class I ever took and I aced it. He'll spend an hour in the help room to make sure you understand the problem inside out, upside down, and backwards. I definitely recommend him.

i liked him. workshops can be tricky but they help for the future exams. homework isn't too bad due to format. exam is a bit difficult. Make sure to keep up with the coursework and not let friends do your quizzes if you want an A. Nice guy overall. I'd recommend him.

He teaches the stuff clearly and his exams are not hard...its similar to the workshop quizzes and web assignments. If you know how to do those problems and know the concepts...you will surely get an A.

absolutely horrible. You end up teaching yourself. If your an A student, this class is your worst nightmare. The material is easy, but he makes it hard--he makes mistakes on tests, and will not let you correct him (=I lost credit for some test questions that he refuses to admit he botched). And he's lazy, which makes your life harder.

He ruined my life. I have to take Physics122 again but not with him. I'm taking Hemmick. I wished that I had looked at Hemmick's ratings before. His tests are horrible and his quizzes could help but he is sooooo boring. I see people sleeping in class all the time. He has corny jokes.

engelmann is awesome. he's the most helpful science professor i've had in a long time, and he's hilarious. b/w easy in class quizzes, easy online homeworks, and actually DOABLE midterms, this man is begging you to get an A. he knows his stuff, he's more than available, he curb-stomps the morons who deserve it, and that's what matters.
