Comment:
A very bright man, but also very grumpy. Participation is KEY in this class, he really doesn't like it when people don't participate. The exams are pretty reasonable though. Heavy workload, a group paper every week. For some reason he uses the Socratic method, when it usually just drags out simple concepts and wastes class time.

Rather miserable prof. Expectations are rarely clear, and the material is rarely approached with any intellectual rigor. Participation is required, but the class is NOT run in a socratic fashion. He wants recitation of the obvious, not critical examination of his sometimes sweeping statements. Too bad he's the only game in town for int'l econ.

He's an alright professor, I earned an A- in his class but he gave me a B+ and wouldn't respond to my e-mails when I asked why... I defiantly used all the books, don't know how everyone else got by without them. Overall if you attend class you'll get a good grade

One of the best Profs ever. Teaches using the socratic method, so shy types may be intimidated. Must attend all lectures and write down everything he says. Exams come straight from the lectures. Textbook did not help me at all.

Go to class, take notes; you'll do fine. All test material is based on lectures, so if you take decent notes, the tests, while long, are not hard. Don't look to external sources for understanding, because he's teaching his own unique blend of what he thinks the theories are. Also, the Husted text is next to useless.

I did not like his teaching style at all. He did not present the material clearly and he confused the class by relying heavily on student's questions and answers.

Muller is one of the few "worth while professors" at AU. Class is a little intimidating but it acutally challenges you academically and challenges your views and concept of the developed and developing world. If you're interested in International Development, and the policies behind it, I definitely reccommend.

Very thorough. Excellent presentation and very interested in his student's success. Will give time to any student who requests it of him. Demanding and fair. One of the best professors at this school.

He's demanding but fair. He holds office hours before class and will explain anything that you dodn't understand, the TA's are also very helpful. But he gives a lot of hw so be prepared to do work and not slack off. And he does lecture on and on but go to class because his exams are based on class.

Overdemanding and mean seems to be about right. Seems to derive pleasure from embarassing students. Unable to explain anything, doesn't care at all about his students, & goes on hour-long tangents. If you can avoid his class, do it at all costs. You will definitely regret ever taking his class....
