Do not take this professor. He is the rudest professor I have ever encountered. He will belittle you if you make the slightest mistake. He does not respect his students and clearly does not enjoy teaching.

Dr. Vardy is a professor that has high expectations from his students. His class consists of online quizzes over chapters, weekly discussions, two tests, and two essays. Dr. Vardy is a political science genius, who wants to help his students achieve and especially learn the material. I have taken three courses with him, and enjoyed all of them.

While he does have clear guidelines for papers, deadlines, etc, he is very condescending and not approachable in the slightest. The content of the class was indeed difficult, however, he does not reply to emails which makes getting help even harder. He's a massive jerk and if you want to do well in a class, steer clear from him.

I have really good grades. My GPA is really high, and I have encountered the best professors out there, both online and in person. This professor..... is alienated from the love of teaching, he does not love teaching. Students are over-worked every semester, and they do not need a professor like him around.

Grade is made up of some discussion posts, quizzes, 3 papers, and 2 exams. Quizzes and exams aren't too difficult if you do the reading. He sets some specific guidelines for how he wants papers done, however, if you deviate from it even in the slightest your grade can suffer. Overall, he makes you work hard and the class is reading heavy.

Took Dr. Vardy during the summer semester. Class consisted of quizzes for most chapters, several discussions, and 2 tests. He has very specific instructions for writing papers, follow them or you will fail. Everything is straightforward and is layed out in the syllabus from the first day of class. Do not take him if you do not have time to read.

Dr. Vardy is a great professor overall that is clear on his grading expectations when you walk into his classroom the first day. I am currently taking him for a 1 month summer term and the work seems to be back to back, but it is workable. He is the type of professor that wants his students to think profoundly about politics. He will challenge you.

Dr. Vardy is one of the best professors I have ever taken. Yes, his class is rigorous, but it is also very valuable. He sets his guidelines and expectations early on, and strictly enforces them. However, he is always available to discuss the work, and provides great feedback. He will help you refine your arguments and become disciplined.

DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He grades extremely hard, treats his students like we're stupid, and acts like he's doing us a huge favor by """teaching""" us. I've taken research driven classes in the past and have done phenomenal but he has unrealistic and unclear expectations that make getting an A on papers near impossible. Do ur GPA a favor & AVOID!

(cont) to expect from students reeling from personal tragedy or anything of the sort. Throughout the semester he continued to be horrible and have sarcastic and passive aggressive replies to students from an online class with only this form of communication. The textbook is horrible and his essay grading is deplorable, with no communication (cont)

I would not take him again unless it was my only option. His expectations are not clear. He does give quizes off the book thats about the only good thing I can say about him. A VERY tough grader and will condem you for any late work (which I always turned in on time but he would complain on BB that students would turned in their work late)

Says grading expectations for papers are clear, but not always. Luckily I figured out how he works and asked a bunch of questions. Blackboard participation matters heavily. No textbook, lectures over the same topics but provides lots of outside reference sources. Will rail students anonymously for not doing work. Most students still take him again.

Great professor. Took class over the summer. There were a couple quizzes throughout the semester, and the exams were take home essays. Fair grader on essays. He gives a little feedback on them, nothing too in depth though. Lectures were very interesting, and participation was required each class period. You really need to read the book to do well.

You WILL work in this class and you WILL write, but you will learn a lot and enjoy the process. If you're looking for an easy class, or if you're not interested in the subject he's teaching, look somewhere else. But this class will challenge you and make you a better writer and learner.

Essay focused... His essay format is the Law. Before worrying about content or grammar, make sure to check every inch of your format to match his requirement. Literally hound him for every specific questions about the format, regardless if its dumb or ridiculous or just to make him say it again, ASK HIM either by email or directly.

Very knowledgeable, but that's not enough. Took a summer course with him and he would give you 4 days to write a 12 page paper. One paper I got back only had comments on trivial things: format, citations, spacing, without a single comment regarding content. Judges you based on first paper, and assumes you have lots of time. Do not take him.
