Comment:
The worst college professor I've ever had. She just talks at you during class and talks over you if she doesn't agree with you. The textbook is her own and all of the material is based off HER thoughts. She is very rude to students and acts as if her class is the only in your life that matters. She belittles her students and gives little feedback.

Not clear in how she expects you to write papers, then grades her papers with absolutely ridiculous comments. Paper grading is subjective and she rips you apart. Does not allow absences FOR ANYTHING, not court, not death, NADA! Doesn't facilitate discussion well. Most hated class in college career thus far, because of her.

Awful, Wurtele is not clear on the writing rubric, no matter how hard or how good you think you did on the paper, you didnt. Very tough grader, tough as in ridiculous and wrong for this class being an elective. The only grades are attendance and papers, so if you cant write like a published author, dont take this class. She thinks she is right only

She not only talks over students when they answer questions, but she allows other students to interrupt other students answering. She chooses favorites and if you are not one, good luck getting help in this class. She did not respect my disabilities paper. If you have a disability or any desire to be respected in a class DO NOT TAKE THIS ONE.

Wurtele is the most frustrating and picky teacher I've ever met. Her rubrics and expectations for papers are not clear enough, and even if you are a decent writer you will not do well.

Wurtele is an amazing person, passionate about the topic of the class. Great lectures and guest speakers. However, this is a very hard writing intensive class. She is the hardest grader I've had so far. Her expectations for the papers were not spelled out. Lots of research and reading. She is very willing to review papers and easy through email.

Only 3 papers and attendance in this class for grades. She gets off on failing everyone's papers the first time. Expectations and sample papers dont align with how she grades. Amazing content and guest lectures. But very scatterbrained and no class control (people talking). Still hasn't put grades up on portal although semester ended a while ago.

Dr. Wurtele is the hardest grading professor I have ever met, if you want to do well in this class I would highly recommend going to office hours hours and meeting with her before you turn in papers. She is a hard professor but she is more than willing to help you understand and better your papers.

Unclear on grading criteria and argue with students when challenged in the least. Highly dislikes any type of negative feedback and is very demanding and controlling. Extremely negative qualities in any Professor.

You will get an A on all of the tests if you devote the necessary HOURS into the study guide. Everything that's on the test is on there, but it's a lot of information. The lectures are long but she gives you an outline of what she'll talk about. The lecture information is NOT posted on BB. So beware if you skip class.

I had an amazing time in her class. It was never boring however i took it around lunch hour so that was the only downside. It is important to read the chapters and to pay attention in class. topics that drift from the direct text is common yet are on the test. Wurtele does a great job at explaining topics and very interactive with a big class.

Sandy is the most amazing psych teacher at uccs! If you get the chance take one of her classes. She is so incredibly smart and witty and interesting. She is passionate about teaching and advocating for children and it tends to rub off on her students. My one issue was that the class ended!

Very passionate and enthusiastic. Available for office hours. Unclear about writing expectations. Expects you to agree with her and penalizes you if you don't. Attendance requirements and class assignments made me feel like I was in high school again. Not what I was hoping for from an Advanced Seminar.

Dr. Sandy Wurtele is Insanely passoinate about what she teaches. I have never seen a professor get so into any subject they were teaching. She is not only passionate but she has never ending info about what she teaches. There were weekly response papers a group presentation and an individual presentation.

Her passion for the course comes through her lectures, each and every class period. There are a total of 4, non-cumulative exams. She gave us the study guides for each, through her Outbox, and there were absolutely no surprises on the tests. They were straight forward, much like her lectures. She also had videos and guest lecturers.

Excellent professor who is entirely passionate about her work. She made class a joy. Just do the study guides, take notes on her lectures and videos and guest presentations, and the tests will be quite doable.
