Comment:
I took this professor for property. On one occasion, this professor announced to the class that he was not interested in even teaching this course. The class material is dry to begin with and this professor made the class even more dry. I will admit, he is a good guy and knows his material. With that being said, I would NOT want to take him again.

Comment:
Evidence is not easy; I'd argue conceptually, given the nuances of the rules, it's one of the most difficult law school classes. Scott is a nice, funny guy, but paying attention is difficult because of the tangents he goes on and the fact that he doesn't really teach. Be prepared to teach yourself. It was the lowest law school grade I got.

Comment:
Scott knows everything about evidence but can't convey anything! It's funny that on the exam answer keys he tells the class they won't pass the bar. On that note, use the exam answer keys to study because what's on the exam isn't what is taught in class. He'll send emails about things he forgot to teach. Don't buy the FRE book, it's all online.

BY far the worst professor in the history of all law school professors- biggest waste of time, money, resources, and sanity DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS he rambles about nonsense and calls it lecture, he makes up his own federal rules of evidence on his exams and then marks you wrong for citing the ACTUAL federal rules of evidence.... the WORST

It's Week 14 and I'm still considering dropping the class. He is the WORST!!! Horrible, horrible. Has "surf the internet cause you're not going to learn anything" written on his forehead. Drones on and on about meaningless drivel. I want to shoot myself in the head every week. Did I say he's the worst? Avoid at all costs.

Very intelligent person better suited for law practice rather than teaching. His lectures are incomprehensible, exam is impossible, and he is a very tough grader. Dont bother taking notes, you'll be more confused then when you went in. I would try and avoid taking him if I were you.

Not sure what the previous person is talking about. This professor is great. The only problem is that his class might seem unorganized at times because he falls behind syllabus schedule. However, he tries really hard and posts all types of practice problems on TWEN. He makes you understand the difficult evidence concepts through tons of examples.

I've never felt like I got such a poor roi from my tuition than from this class. If you take this prof you better be prepared to teach yourself -- you will get nothing of value from the 3 hrs a week you waste in class.

I found him very arrogant, and I look back on his class and laugh, arrogant property prof, that is funny, and arrogant prop lawyer, you reall dont find many of those in the practice. I did well in his class, but again he makes me laugh when I think back on it.

By far the worst prof I have ever had. No one In my class gave him higher than a "one" on evals. Avoid him at all costs, and Cooley should consider finding someone better. He sucks...

Past comments confuse me. I have yet to hear one belittling or rude comment. However, I have no clue what he is rambling about. Some thirty minute story of his daughter getting in five car accidents. I can't keep my head up with this guy. He is in his own world. Maybe his class is one big ironic joke about relevancy because none of his stories are!

I just happened to find this site. I had Scott over 10 years ago. I feel sorry for those of you that have to tolerate him. I agree with most of the responses - If you can avoid him, you should. You will not learn evidence from him. True, the class is boring, but the sign of a good teacher is to make a boring subject interesting.

HE must've really hated some of the other classes. he was fine for us...no yelling. aside from his clam nature with our class, we still didn't learn a thing from the lecture. If you have to take him, buy flashcards.

Very smart prof. Class discussion was hard to follow the first couple of weeks. After you figure out his style, you realize just how great of a prof he is. On top of that, he actually takes the time, outside of class, to answer questions. I would recommend him to anyone.

I don't know what people are complaining about. I liked this guy's class! Evidence is boring--everyone knows it. But he'll explain the rules (which aren't very complicated). Class is low-itensity; very little socratic method. I'd take him again, in a heartbeat.
