Comment:

Stan Kong's one of long standing and the most prolific in the field of Design, he's super and very supportive and knowledgeable. One can not disagree unless you did not give it your best or design isn't your path. I strongly and highly recommend anyone to take all he's course. Oopps too late for PCC students, now you will have to jump to AC.

Comment:

Most review have already pointed out the major flaws this teacher has; he talks about to many unrelated subjects during class, he picks favorites, and didn't really teach us anything important for the field of art, other than how to use some specific set of markers and tools with expenses that will dry out your wallet. He also skips out sometimes.

Pretty much all these reviews are accurate. He does provide great insight in his lectures but they are long winded and repetitive. If I pay for an art class i want demos and instruction not motivational speeches. At first i was genuinely amazed at what he said but then it became self centered. He also does take credit for good students.

Stan is one of the best teacher''s I''ve ever had. He looks out for you not only as a student but as a person. Yeah his classes are hard and so is life. You cannot miss a class and the homework is plentiful but you will not regret taking this class.

Comment:

Stan is a great teacher. Everyone who complains about how much he talks obviously isn't listening to what he is saying or else they would be grateful. Stan teaches you to draw well but also motivates you and gives life advice that you can't find in a lot of other college classes. He's a great teacher and expects A LOT out of you. Take his class!

I think that he talks a lot more than he teaches. I regret taking his class. He is nice to talk to but he could talk without stopping and doesn't give you time to work in his class. Don't take him for sketching but I heard he is better in rendering. I really wish I would not have taken his class. It was a mistake.

Awful. He spends all his time talking about himself and how great he is with art programs and whatnot. We didn't complete our first project until midterm and then he threw us the final w/o any prep. He plays favorites as well. During crits he'll only give decent feedback to students that he likes and everyone else he just disregards.

BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD. AT FIRST I WAS VERY INTIMIDATED AND KNEW NOTHING ABOUT RENDERING. BUT I ATTENDED EVERY CLASS AND DID MY WORK AND GOT AN A. HE IS ALSO VERY MOTIVATING. Basically it is a rendering class but this guy doesn't even cover anything about rendering. He talks about how he help other students get into fancy school. You are so full of yourself. Students get in because they have potential and talent. We can get into art school with your help. I heard how Stan brags about me getting into RISD because of him. I got in because of my work.

Best teacher ever. Not only do you learn about rendering but you learn a great deal about what's out there in the art community. Not all of it is good & is definitely not easy. I learn A LOT about the real world from Stan, he's great and depending on how much you want to make you career happen, a huge motivator

Very motivating and inspirational talks about life, careers, and how to get ahead in the world. The work is kind of tedious and boring, but does get your drawing skills up to par. Main philosophy on actual rendering is that you have to practice, practice, practice. He looks for improvement and student interest.

Stan's class is great! He truly cares about the success of his students and will give you some nice portfolio projects if you put enough effort into his assignments (treat every assignment like it is going into your portfolio, it just might end up there). his class is not an easy A, but it is definitely worth while!

Stan is the most encouraging teacher I've ever met. He will push you to work hard, but it's up to you whether you want to meet that challenge. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. This class will improve your skills as a designer; expect to work hard. Your experience at PCC is not complete if you never have Stan as a teacher.

Stan is by far the best teacher I have. Yes, he does give a lot of homework and it will probably be a little stressful. But it will pay of. He cares about all his student, but you HAVE TO ASK!! He will help ppl as many things and as many times as he can. I learn a lot from him, both skills and life experiences. Really helpful, and funny too.
