He is a good professor and will help you when needed. He also goes out of his way to prepare us a bit before big tests and try to help us despite the fact our class was rude and loud.

He can be difficult to understand and most of your learning will be out of the lecture. Calc is a hard subject therefore, a lot of studying is required to do well. Most of your grade is based on the final (50%) and midterms. This class is curved, provided you beat the average which is around (55-65%) you'll get a decent grade C+ or a B

Comment:
Only took pre-calc in high school so the material was really hard for me. His accent makes the lectures hard to understand, so get ready to self-teach. The final exam was really hard, but the midterms were not too bad. Also, they say the class is "curved" but it really doesn't' do anything. Do well on OQs and IQs to help bump up your grade.

Stephen Choi is a good person, but as a professor he falls short, whether its that he is hard to understand, or if he skips over explanations of concepts, or instead of teaching the concept he merely does practice problems. Overall, Stephen is a good guy in the wrong position.

Calc is hard and there is no way around it. Choi's midterms are rather simpler than other profs I would assume. Many students failed the course bc they did not take calculus in high school, so I highly recommend taking calc to have the basic knowledge. His accent is hard to understand but is an approachable prof. I hate math, but he is alright.

Took him for required Calc I course. First lecture I sat maybe 8 rows back and couldn't understand his accent after it got distorted by the speakers in the big lecture hall. So if you want to learn anything sit in the front, no one sits there anyways everyone is too afraid of the first year math profs lol

Horrible teacher. Doesn't prepare you at all for the final exam and is impossible to understand any he says. Worst part is he's the only teacher for this course so you're forced to take his class.

Read the textbook, because it's really hard to learn in the lectures. Also, get help from the Algebra Workshop for your proofs assignments. Exams and quizzes are hard, but they do reflect the textbook questions. The prof make quiet a lot of typos and mistakes in class content.

He is definitely a nice prof, his assignments are fair, midterm is not easy but he gave a bonus question so you can still get good marks, and if you did the online assignments well you get bonus marks on final.

This class was VERY well organized and he gave us everything we needed to succeed. My only minor complaint is that he writes a lot of notes very quickly and it can make lectures a little dry.

I swear he's the easiest prof for math157. His accent is quite thick but he clarifies his points quite well. Exam questions are predictable since they are similar to those on the lecture notes. He also tells you exactly what will be tested on exams.

Retook math with Stephen after doing miserably the first time. Stephen is a great professor. Lectures are a bit hard to follow but can be made up for by reading the textbook. Exams are very fair and he will tell you exactly what you need to know. To do well, keep up with the textbook questions and practice continuously.

Professor Choi has a heavy accent, and his lecture notes are somewhat confusing and long. There are weekly assignments for this course, as well as online assignments, and will take up a bit of time each week. Midterms are not as easy as he says during the review session. 50 minutes are a rush for writing his midterms. He is a nice professor tho!

He's a great choice for a real analysis course because he makes it a lot easier than it could otherwise be. Exams and homework are challenging because analysis is a painful subject regardless of who teaches, but he is quite good at it. Definitely would recommend - an A+ is doable.

Lots of homework, but necessary because constant practice will help you do well. Utilize the ACW if you need help. Midterms were exactly what he said it would be. He literally tells you what will be tested. Join the math 157 group/chat (some really smart ppl post all the answers to the assignment questions and some dude even helped tutor me)

He has a thick accent, but if you sit closer to the front you will be okay. His midterms are reasonable if you attend the review session, and some questions are similar to the instructor questions. The final is brutal; it is nothing like the midterms. Study hard, and do well on everything else to make up for the final.

Good professor for people who didn't take calculus in high school. His notes are useful, but he doesn't post most of his lectures notes online (only chapters 1-3, 7, and 10). His mid terms are easy if you study the lecture notes, textbook questions, and his instructor questions. He might curve the grade after the finals.

I think that he's a decent professor; however, I personally don't think I learned that much from him. Since I took Calculus in high school, most of the material covered in MATH 157 was the same. His midterms are extremely easy and his final is alright -- just got to be careful.
