This class was interesting to take as an elective. Reading the book helps a lot for the exams and since there are 4 pop quizzes during the term. Lectures are interesting but sometimes can get a little boring. Overall it was a good class but nothing special.

Macek is a great guy and is extremely intelligent. He talks a lot and gets on tangents, but he always brings it back. Work with him and he will make sure you do well in the class. Genuinely cares about all his students.

Comment:
Dr. Macek was a wonderful choice for COM185! He's passionate about the media and everything I have learned from was entertaining and was worth looking forward to 2 days a week. He tries to make funny jokes in class and tends to laugh at himself, but he's overall just a jolly guy. He offers loads of extra credit, grades easy, and is willing to help.

Steve is a fun and well rounded professor with a lot of respect for his students. His lectures sometimes include things that aren't necessarily on the exam, as he gets excited about certain topics and rambles, but he gives students a study guide that helps with exams. Participate in class and do the readings and you'll do fine.

He is very clear about the content he teaches, and all of the tests/assignments are very clear in their purpose as well. The tests had study guides, which also were straightforward in their purpose.

Comment:
This class is taken off campus in Chicago. The class is long and we always get back to Naperville really late. Having said that, minus a lot of walking and a long lecture at the start, he's clearly incredibly passionate about what he teaches and takes you to some interesting parts of the city and teaches in a wealth of detail .

He was a great professor. He had a passion for teaching and the subject matter. He really knew what he was talking about. Seems like he really cares about his students too. He was a pretty easy grader too, and also gave good feedback on homework and papers. He also interacts with students outside we class, very personal and professional.

Great Professor. It may seem a bit hard to stay awake. I was always on my computer and such and I still got a B. He'll tell you to buy like 10 diff. books but you can get by with no booksHe's very into his work, but be prepared to make a web page for every writing assignment you have. But he will help you if you need it, gives very useful feedback.

This class was very boring and I struggled to stay awake. He is often offensive, but no one takes notice because he "laughs it off." Honestly, an easy class, but I would have taken it with a different Prof if it was offered.

Macek is a great professor. has his own views, but encourages students to express theirs as well. Very open, friendly and willing to help students out. Gives great lectures - as long as you read the material and take notes in class you'll do great.

I had him for Mass Media and Society and he was really great. Funny, leads engaging discussions on interesting topics, and wants every student to succeed. His laugh is great too. He's a crazy leftist radical, but he's good about wanting everyone to voice their opinion.

Although he is a nice guy this man defines liberal media. Leave your politics at home! Very easy class with a medium amount of busy work determining your grade.
