I took professor Hum during Summer I. She's very nice and doesn't mind answering any questions you have! I bugged her a lot when it came to our essays. You have to be lazy to not pass her class. Show up, do the online discussions, write the EASY topic essays, and you're good. Open book quizzes were plus!!!! I would love to take her again!

Professor Hum was honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. I truly enjoyed going to her class every other day. The assignments were fairly simple and always involved a peer grading activity before turning them in, in order to gain different perspectives. I would take her class again for sure. Hum all the way.

The class itself was fine, but she's an unethical researcher. She makes you post blogs, but doesn't tell you that you're a guinea pig until the end of the semester when she makes you sign a waiver so she can use your material in her research. She says you don't have sign your rights away, but, come on, if you don't, she'll get you come grading time

She "kind" of gives you assignments, but there's a lot "figure it our yourself" work. I felt in the dark sometimes, like as if I was missing something, and sometimes I was. Granted, I didn't talk to her as much as I could have. She grades differently than most teachers. Relatively simple assignments. Just stay on your toes and you'll be fine.

Dr. Hum's grading system is TERRIBLE--you don't even get a typical "grade" on your papers, like a "B" or "80," blogs and presentations are never graded (or grades are never given). I was pretty much in the dark until the end of the semester. Expect to be blindsided because if you thought you knew how she grades, you're wrong.

Dr. Hum is a great professor, but not easy- you will have to work for your grade. I like her classes, but be aware that your grade is a reflection of how hard you work

Really dreaded this class. I felt she pushed her personal agenda way too much instead of focusing on material. It was the general consensus of the class that what our lectures were over were completely unrelated to Advanced Composition.

Took Dr Hum for English seminar and am SO GLAD I did! She has a fantastic personality and blends visual, group, individual and lecture learning just beautifully. She demands excellence from her students, but she also works with her students to help them reach their potential. Just an awesome experience.

This tough cookie is well worth the effort. Mind your p's and q's, accept responsibility as a student, quit snivelling, get to work, and any student might succeed. Besides plebians, Dr. Hum is one literatus who deserves a chili pepper.

REALLY HATED THIS CLASS!! IT'S THE TEACHER, NOT JUST THE DRY SUBJECT. MY FRIEND IS IN THE OTHER SECTION AND LOVES THAT TEACHER WHO MAKES THE SUBJECT BEARABLE. HUM EXPECTS PERFECTION AS IF YOU'RE ONE OF HER GRAD STUDENTS.NO PERSONALITY JUST HARSH DEMEANOR. HARD TO BELIEVE SHE'S ENGLISH MAJOR AS SHE DOESN'T READ AND IS JUST ANALYTICAL SCIENTIFIC PHD.

I have a 4.0 as an English major. This semester I have all A's, too, except for THIS class. I'm practically failing! She is one of those teachers who have to put you in your place as a know-nothing student. The WebCT is for her grant money, so know you're a research subject like an earlier review stated. Thanks, Hum, there goes my scholarship!

Uses students as guinea pigs for her research. Quizzes are indirect and frequent. I did the reading, highlighted the important stuff, and skimmed back over what I highlighted. And I still failed over half of the quizzes. Don't take this chick unless you have to. Unfortunately, I have her for another three months. It's gonna be a long semester.

If you are the type of student who constantly worries about your grade/gpa, taking a class with Professor Hum will continue to stress you out. You will learn a lot from her; she is very knowledgable. Despite my grade - c - I would still recommend she be taken. Do not try bs'ing on assigned papers, you must do your research and start in advance.

Her class is a challenging class and not one to slack off on, some of the rhetorical grammar is somewhat complicated but managable. Discusses interesting things in class. You MUST write good, professional papers in her class, do not skimp on the efforts of your first paper to test how she grades, she seems reasonable and challenging.

It's my experience Ms. Hum has steadily improved her skills as a professor, and most students who don't like her teaching expect professors to think FOR THEM. She makes you think on your own! She's also devoted to student learning, and made major changes to accommodate my classmates once she realized the problems they were having.

Prof. Hum doesn't pretend that she is going to make her class easy. She forces you to challenge yourself on your assignments, so be prepared to work. This isn't a class for slackers. The grading system is very different from anything else, make sure you are clear on it from the beginning. She is very blunt with criticsm. The assignments can be vague.

You will learn important rhetorical concepts in her class. She is too strict & unclear about assignments. I attended every single class & did all the assignments fairly well, but I still got a B. She is a wonderful teacher & amiable too. She is often unreliable. She cancelled one class & didn’t even show up for another; that is bad professorship.

This class was not what I expected. It was boring, lame, and unorganized. Dr. Hum is not helpful and unreliable. Her assignments are abstract. She is very defensive about her criticism and not very helpful with students. Her grading system is horrible.
