I took this class online, she is very inconsiderate regarding personal matters, she is a harsh grader, she does not give you any feed back at all whatsoever but instead copies and pastes part of her syllabus for feedback on speeches. I do NOT recommend her.

I stayed in this class because it satisfies some of my graduation requirements, and while I watched many people drop the course within the first month of the semester, I realized too late that I should have switched professors when I had the chance. She is very unorganized and lacks clear direction with all of her assignments.

Comment:

Professor Dohany is a sweet and wonderful women, but this class is a nightmare. Much like an iceberg, the class is fun and light, but the amount of work for homework is stupid. You have to watch entire length movies, write essays on them, and their due time is ridiculous. Due the night before the class? Sunday? Nope, randomly Tuesday.

Her class has been a complete waste of time! If you want lots of work, take this class. I was debating whether I should've taken speech, but I sure regret taking her class. I know I will never use what I learned in the future. very disorganized! takes forever to grade assignments. Doesn't realize you have a life also. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!!!

Not a big fan of this professor. Dropped after the first week. She comes off as superior. First day of class, she required a speech! Not prep work, no clarity about the fear of public speaking, nothing! Her method of teaching is to brag about herself and then throw you to the wolves. If you're a maniacal kiss-up, this is the professor for you.

For a beginning course this lady sure asked for a lot from you. Don't be late or she'll evil eye you all semester and any help you might need, she wont answer. She wants you to only think giving a speech is important, not the fact that you have 3 other courses that I'll actually find uses for in my career. Only get her if you like to kiss butt.

Professor Dohany spells out exactly what she expects in the beginning. Assignments caused you to think outside the box. No quizzes or final exam. Two audience speeches and Two without. You work diligently, and "A" for sure.

Teacher was quick to respond and very clear of her expectations. I took this class after my wife. She reduced the amount of people required in the recorded speeches from 7 to 5! Very lenient on grading of speeches, never got below a ninety. Don't really understand why she'll take points off if you completely memorize the speech,but,just that easier

I hate speech, so I took this class online because I didn't care to speak in front of people. It was easy, but I didn't learn anything. I felt like it was the kind of class you just do your work in to get by. She's unorganized, and will take a while to get back to you. She seemed nice, but I didn't find her helpful. Take her if you want an easy A.

I took this class online & it was ok. The HW barely has anything to do with speech & just seemed like busy work. 4 mandatory speeches which I don't feel she grades fairly. I got an A in the class but not b/c I didn't work hard. It always seemed as though you had the most HW the same week a speech was due & if you have ?'s too bad she never replies!

If you value comprehensive education look somewhere else. Ineffective at teaching, often skips classes, never remembers ANYTHING at all discussed in class. Boring and a tough grader for such an easy course. do not take her, you will regret it, trust me.

AWFUL! SIMPLY AWFUL! The HW is completely unrelated to the subject, and just a waste of time. SPC 1608 is supposed to be a fairly easy class, it's mandatory and most prof's realize this. Dohany fails to comprehend this. She's rude, wears her political party on her sleeve, grades unfairly, and pick favs. IN SHORT, DO NOT TAKE! DON'T BE FOOLED!!

ONLINE FALL 2010 class.Attend the speech labs! they will be useful. She uses Communication Works by Gamble & Gamble. Also, the discussions were quite easy but she was rough on grading on speeches. I would not recommend her to anyone. she is rude and likes to belittle students. She never responds back to e-mails on how to improve my speeches.

You need to tape your speech w/ 7 people Minimum or go to sp lab w/ only one time slot (inconvenient) I busted my balls and barely got an A. She was helpful though when asking a question. Use the book rarely, I learned more how to work my video camera than the class itself. when you upload your video..it takes 4ever do it real early or late at nigh

She is a great teacher for speech. She grades fairly easy as long as you stick to her rubric youll do well. I took in 6 weeks with 4 other classes and would do it again. Its a great way to take speech. EASY A!!

Suzette was an awesome professor. She plans different activities that make time go by fast in class. There are two hw assignmts due every class but they are easy and her grading is fair. as long as you show up to class its an easy A. Discussions were fun. We even had outings for lunches and "cultural experiences" - best class at valencia so far.
