Thomas Lauer brought a fresh, new perspective on the topic of Intellectual Property. Prior to the course, I would have not viewed IP as government granted monopoly. Furthermore, IP seemed like a great thing as you do not hear much arguments against it in everyday life. Lauer challenged the norm and brought a new way of thinking.

Great guy! Make sure you participate in class discussion and know the material (be prepared and discuss and you will do fine). Dont wait until the journal is due to start it (it is a lot of work to put together). Has funny stories to lighten the mood and presents great material. Open book notes digital notes for half the midterm.

3 individual papers and 2 group papers, 6 sets of discussion questions that go into your journal, 3 group online forum posts, journal encompassing the topics discussed in the course, and a midterm. Tom is a great guy and has great insight and stories. Start the journal right away and progress through it as the semester goes on and you will be fine.

150-200 pages of reading due PER class. Exams were quite easy, but subject matter is boring. Not sure why we have to take TWO MIS classes for an MBA. Good prof, just way too much reading for people who have JOBS.

take this class with some friends, joke around with prof during class, and you are golden. ill admit, there is a lot of work to do and the exams can be rough. but he curves generous and is pretty down to earth. he knows that anyone in 350 is there because they have to be to graduate. good way to approach it.

Only take a class with this professor if you have no life. The amount of work he assigns is completely unreasonable for a student with a full time job. Lectures are dry and long, and he is vague when answering questions.

Nice guy. Homework isn't very time consuming so if you are busy it will help. Lectures can be a bit dry but if you study the presentations tests are a snap.

Great in curriculum development, most of us learned a great deal on Info Sys Security. Group assignments and readings are meaningful, activity level is high, midterm and final were reasonable. Tricky grading system helps you. Recommended.

Lauer's pretty easy... he reads from his slides. The tests weren't too bad, but he did not explain his projects at all. He answered questions with questions. Take him anyway, though.
