Comment:

I love Dr. Young-she is so incredibly kind and helpful. However, she is unclear and unorganized when lecturing. I mostly had to teach myself from the textbook. See her during her office hours for extra help: this always helped me fully understand o-chem. She is not a tough grader on lab reports and does not have strict guidelines.

Comment:

She's good about helping her students during her office hours. You will get docked for every little thing on your lab reports. Lectures are fast paced, and don't thoroughly cover the material that are on the tests. You cannot rely on the lectures to help you with the tests. I think the only students who get A's in her class are Chem. geniuses.

Strongly recommended you guys not to take this professor. The worst professor I had ever have in my life. Very disorganized, confusing, and she tempts to jumble the lecture materials here and there. She goes over lecture super fast, like shooting a bullet in the air. If you are to take her, God bless you She loves to pretend friendly and so fake.

I have never had a teacher as helpful as Dr. Young. She really wants you to do well in her class and would do a lot to help you achieve your goals. Her exams are hard, but all the ochem teachers at DVC have the same type of exams. Very fair on grading, and not too picky about labs and due dates. Do problems, ask for her help when you need it.

Dr. Young is a great teacher. She is extremely fair and always willing to go out of her way to help you. You do however have to do your part and do all of the homework, read the material, and study!! I went into the final with a high B and am hoping to pull off the A. Work hard and read the syllabus. For example a C is 62%-77%!!! Good luck!

Dr Young is a good teacher but a little hard to understand sometimes because she went so fast! she doesnt only teach fast but she also speaks fast. she is a great person and she will do her best to help you with what you don't understand. take her if you are willing to work hard

I liked Dr Young alot.She was very understanding and always willing to help.If you do all the labs an A or B should be easy.Her lectures are tough to handle at times.Have to read the book a little.If you like math, this class will be easy.Just ask questions every now and then, and try to stop by her office hours at least once, and you will pass.

I am just finishing taking her class this fall, and I have to say that even though it was a little bit confusing at times, she does a pretty good job at explaing the material. I think that if you do all the work you should have no trouble in this class

Although Tish may be slightly scatterbrained I found her class to be very straightforward and easy. Before attending her class I had had no prior experience with chemistry. If you read the material she assigns and do the assigned work, you are almost guaranteed a passing grade. Personally, I found the class to be wonderful.

Dr. Young is hard, but if you do ALL the homework she assigns and do ALL the problems on her handouts, you will do well. If you're having any issues, go to her office hour (when she's there! a slight problem), she will guide you in the right direction. If you aren't doing well and seek her help, she will help you. bottom line- tough but fair.

Barely passed her class! I had a lot of trouble following her train of thought during lectures, and I still don't understand some of the concepts. She was usually ~5 mins late to lectures and lab, and sometimes during lab she would leave the room for a long time, leaving some very confused students to figure out the lab procedured by themselves.

take my advice and do not take her, i love chemistry and had some chemistry background from high school chemistry honors, but she made it hell for me. i was barely able to stay awake in her class. she doesnt explain things too well, gives this weird attitude when you ask her a question.. look into taking Hein if you want a good grade

This class is really easy in terms of material - don't get discouraged by all the fancy shmancy names. But I can tell you, the teacher makes all the difference in the world. Tish sucks - she has no teaching skills whatsoever and is kinda bipolar, including her grading system. Take Hein.

alot of people think she is hard,and she is not the easiest person, but i think she is fare and if you need help she'll go out of you way to help you. i actually really like her. comparing to some of the chem teachers at dvc, she is an angel. if you have a strong background at chem take her, if not, it mit be a bit harder, but still you can survive

Her style of teaching is kinda weird, not much structure but she really makes you think. Basically, don't take her thinking you'll breeze through.
