Amazing Prof and best class that I have taken at BRCC. Grades promptly and answers email quickly. Learned so much but I had to work for it. It's not a class where you just watch films and write a few papers. You actually LEARN about the film industry and how it evolved to what it is today. EXTREMELY FAIR GRADER and his expectations are clear.

BEST. CLASS. EVER!!! Lots of reading/work but I LEARNED so much about the film industry. The way he teaches the class (through decades) made me appreciate the film industry and where we are today with technology. Gives plenty of time to do each module and it's your fault if you procrastinate and try to do the assignment the night before.

Amazing. This was the most COMFORTABLE class I have EVER taken. Given, I had experience from a four-year university prior to taking Tracy's Film Appreciation class. I came from a much more intense course-load and expected Blue Ridge to have a bit of a concentrated community college load. It was, and Tracy and his class made it extremely worthwhile.

Solid choice for an elective credit. He gives 2 weeks to do an assignment, you can get an A as long as you answer the questions he asks and do the work properly. It's time-consuming but not difficult as long as you the minimum of scanning the readings so you can answer his questions. You can work ahead since he gives dates/assignments the 1st day

Excellent professor! The first couple of weeks are a little difficult since you're getting used to McAfee's grading criteria, however after that everything is downhill.

Easy class, just lots of work. Almost every week you have to read 12 pages of info about movie history. NOT much watching, rather reading

Lots to do but fun in a way since it was pretty interesting learning about the history of film. Makes sense in how the class was set up. Took it with Effrig last year and hated it. McAffee was organized and quick to respond with grades and feedback. Got an A second time round.... No textbook!! Used online site which saved me $$$$

Professor McAfee was excellent. His class was tough. (Don't procrastinate!) There was a lot of reading and writing, but it was very interesting and enjoyable. If you do your homework well you'll easily earn an A. He always answered emails within a few hours and was very personable. If you enjoy history and film, you won't be disappointed!

He is a great professor, but the class is SO BORING. All you do is read about film from the beginning to present. You only watch a couple movies, then write papers about them. It's not so very fun but if you need it for credit, take it with him. He's an easy grader as long as you follow grading criteria.
