Comment:

A good nice teacher. There are 2 big papers and 3 big tests in the class I took with her. Her assignments and slides are relatively easy to follow. So long as you show up on time, do the readings, and take the notes, the main course of her class and the tests should be relatively doable. Big papers require a lot of time and effort to do well tho

Comment:

She's a tough grader on tests--there are five of them. She wants you to know about the dynasty, the painting, the artist, materials and how it all connects to religion in China. Goes too fast in powerpoints. Must show up for class for notes cause pictures of paintings only show up on blackboard. However, there is not any homework.

Imagine trying to explain a recipe for spaghetti and meatballs to someone except they need to know the exact year the book you got the recipe from was published, what font and size the text was printed in, and whether or not the author had long fingernails. Pretty much sums up every test in this class. Nice, passionate person, terrible grading...

Professor Weston is just fine. She will have you visit the Museum of Fine Arts - Boston twice in a semester. A few tests and a few other assignments as well. The problem is that she is very vague. She wrote her own textbook that is given to us for free but it has sections that are too vague.

Comment:

Barely need the textbook if you're a fast and diligent note taker. Go to every lecture and listen for what she is trying to say about the era of art, and you will be fine. Tests are no joke-- I recommend re-writing notes to really familiarize with the material. Prof is a total sweetheart and wants to see students do well. Awesome study guides too!

Comment:

Weston is a really boring teacher, and usually just teaches Buddhism instead of art. She usually just gives really long and boring lectures, and I can see that so many people just sleep through her class. If you're one of those people who falls asleep in a dark-lit room or want a more engaging class, then it may be a bad idea to take this class.

This shouldve been an easy A; material is simple. HW was a waste of time not useful for tests. Short answer exams, with questionable grading. Subtracts points that dont make sense. Vague teaching style, book was more useful. Vague images for exams that she admits arent good. TA is horrible. Pretentious course. Dont take her. Mandatory attendance.

This professor was one of the worst I've had. She provides her own manuscript as a textbook that you buy over the course and it is written in the most confusing way possible. She has no idea how to write a multiple choice question and every exam was multiple choice. She didnt provide adequate review for exams. She was BORING. Homework was useless.

The material for this class is boring, and she makes it even more boring. She seems more care abut your writing skills than what you know about the materails. 3 exams will be given and each counts for 30%, which means if u mess up with one, your final grade will not be good. Not recomended.

The interest in this class was done for by the middle of the semester. She is very disorganized in her way of teaching and pulls dates, names, and assignments out of nowhere. She's also not very good helping outside of class and not engaging enough. I'm disappointed.

She is OKAY. I have been in a few of her classes and they were all different. My biggest complaint is that she doesn't know how to grade anything. I.e. she made 100 question exam in a 50 min course--which left less than a minute to answer the question. She took away and added points due to how you answered. Needless to say, it was a mess.

Amazing professor, read her book and pay attention to her lectures and you will do really well. One of the most enthusiastic teachers I have ever had. Really has a passion for what she teaches and this passes on to the students. Study guide is given before tests, study it and you are set.

I don't like art or history, but I LOVE THIS CLASS!!! She made it sooo interesting. I love her teaching style, cuz u actually learn a lot. The tests were pretty easy if u take good notes. Its all about taking good notes. If you do, u'll b all set.

I LOVED THIS CLASS! I took it for a world culture requirement and thought it would be an easy A, it is pretty easy if you study for her exams, but on top of it all, the class was SO interesting! I've learned SO much from her, she's an amazing teacher and an even more amazing person! I'd reccomend this class to everyone and anyone!! Take it!

This course was my first introduction to art history. I really enjoyed her teaching style. I took a lot away from this class. Would definitely recommend taking this course with Professor Weston.

I'M A TRANSER STUDENT FROM CHINA. I DIDN'T EXPECT MANY OF MY AMERICAN PROFESSORS TO BE INTERNATIONALLY LIBERAL AND UNBIASED UNTILL I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM PROF. WESTON. SHE HAS NOT ONLY THE KNOWLEDGE OF ARTS BUT ALSO THE VIRTUOUS SPIRIT OF BEING A RESPECTFUL SCHOLAR.
