Really nice guy, he was even kind of funny but he is very lecture heavy. Didnt really teach and had one big group project that taught the class outside of his lecture. I skipped a few times and still got an A. He was a really easy grader just as long as you did the work.

The entire class is completely run by you, he has little to no lectures, and the entirety of the semester will be spent doing your group presentations. This is an easy A, HOWEVER, make sure you do NOT miss an single assignment or you will get a C at best. The assignments are not hard, but they might take a little time though. Do the assignments!

Overall this class was really easy However, it's VERY boring. If you don't need to take a phil course then don't take this. Professor Kalugin is very nice but does not teach well. There is no homework in this class except 5, 2-page summaries that you basically get an A by completing them. The final is a 5-7 paper. PARTICIPATE IN ORDER TO GET AN A!!

5, 2-page responses to philosophical text that is very hard to interpret. a group presentation is given on each as well as another presentation. one final paper about 5-7 pages but not hard because it is opinion based. participation matters. besides the responses there is no homework but he tends to talk a lot. very knowledgeable easy A

Alright, I am going to go ahead and give this man a 5 star rating. I took this class as a GE and it was so worth it. Easy A and no tests/quizzes. All you have to do is participate and present a lot in front of the class, which can be hard, but no one actually pays attention to you talking so it is fine. 5 Summaries, 1 group project, 1 opinion essay

He does everything in his power not to teach. He assigns a group project that everyone will present at some point in the semester(every week). He puts up articles online where you have to write a summarysent in class. Everybody will present on the same article. Easy A but if you don't like public speaking, don't take him.

Extremely funny, dry humor guy. He has very few assignments and as long as you genuinely try he will give you a good grade. A great class to take to get IGETC out of the way and keep your GPA up. Very few assignments 5 summaries one large essay and one major group presentation Would recommend. Just be ready to participate in class!

He has a very dry sense of humor which I found to be hilarious. I would genuinely laugh at things he would say literally every class. Such an easy A it's insane. No tests, no quizzes, just summary presentations and a final paper. I hate public speaking but this class made me feel comfortable enough that it wasn't a big deal. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Easy A, but if you value your time or education you shouldn't take him. I can honestly say I didn't learn anything from him in his class or his one lecture though he is very knowledgeable. You are graded on 6 homeworks, a group presentation, and a essay. Make sure to participate in class, and comment & ask questions on other groups presentations.

Very insightful man. He doesn't care about how good your essay/presentation is, as long as he see's that you tried then you automatically get an A. He's super kind, cares about his students, and your grade is based mostly on participation so always give your input! He loves hearing students opinion and will give you points for it.

great professor! he grades based on your effort which is refreshing. get ready to read a lot of difficult text but as long as you try to understand the material, you'll get an A. if you're shy (like me) then def. take his class bcuz once you break out of your shell you'll be rushing up to present for quadruple credit (literally)!

If you like philosophy, this class is having coffee with a philosopher. Gives so much knowledge, you just need to remember it all. He tries to make it interesting for many people. Funny guy. Really integrates the whole class and makes it feel like a welcomed environment for all. Always ready for disagreement, but he mostly speaks truth. Wise man.

No tests, No textbook. Easy A as long as you show up and do all summaries, participation matters! have to do presentation at least once a week with group. One out of class group project . Vladimir rarely lectures, students do most of the talking.

This class is very easy, it's almost entirely graded on participation. But if you don't like group work or presenting in front of the class, then beware. You'll do it every week with Vlad. He grew up in the former soviet union and has lots of great stories. He's no nonsense. I got a kick out of his attitude towards education.

Do all of the 4 posted assignments and participate when in class and you for sure have an A in the class, although if you miss class and don't do 1 or more of the assignments your grade will drop 25% per missed assignment.

Kalugin is such a nice and genuine human being. If you don't believe me, his extra credit assignment for the semester was to plant a tree and take a picture of yourself with it in order to benefit the environment. Such a cool guy. As long as you participate and do the occasional summaries, you'll get an A. He doesn't believe in exams!!

If you do the work, show up to class, and participate you will get an A. There are no tests and the assignments are not difficult. The biggest percentage of your grade is your in class participation so be sure to show up and at least talk once per discussion.
