Dropped this class within the first week before the drop date. She sent out a mass email criticizing several students emails to her. Myself, had some personal issues and when I contacted her and explained... Well, preliminary attempts were ignored and then received a brush off. Not very helpful!

Fair and caring about students. Will help you outside of class. If you have any issue with the exam day and you tell her ahead of time she will let you do a makeup. She is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She will allow redos for history of math papers

I was in the Honors Calc Class. Very difficult, hardest I have ever worked for a class (and I'm decent at math in general). You really have to study everything she does in class. She isn't always very clear. Her exams are very lengthy, always taking two whole hours to complete. If you take honors calculus, beware.

Comment:

History of Math. She has you read the entire textbook over the course. Midterm is all math and the final is all history. She was demeaning to certain students when it was unneccessary and sometimes acted dismissive. Overall I think she was nice though and the class was easy.

Before ever having this woman as a professor, she pretty much told me I would fail at life. She criticized practically every decision I've ever made in my education, and I really don't think it was her place to do so. You two will work out better if you're a recessive type... like a dog. A dog that likes getting kicked. In the spleen. A lot.

Dr Spalsbury is a great teacher. Honors Calc is hard anyway since so much is stuffed into it, but overall, she did a good job. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Life is better when you do. Her final is similar to tests, tests are similar to quizzes, which are similar to homework. Very nice & professional. She's not easy, but she's as good as math profs can get :o)

This class is VERY difficult. The material itself is hard to understand. Dr. Spalsbury does a decent job presenting the material, but her tests are VERY VERY HARD. Granted, a lot of students don't do the homework. I think she takes a lot of unfair criticism. She is difficult, but she is very willing to help you if you're confused.
