I love him as a person, but I do have a problem. There are 3 tests & your final grade is those 3 tests averaged together. There are no quizzes, there is a little extra credit. In class is easy then test isnt. Everyone gets different problems on test so I dont really understand how you could make that fair. If youre really good at math, take.

Comment:

Professor Asherov has a pretty thick accent but it doesn't interfere with his teaching. He will keep going over problems until everyone understands. He clearly writes everything out on the board as well. There were 2 quizzes, 2 tests and a final exam. He adds 5 pts to your exam if you do the HW. He is also very accessible and helpful outside class.

if you have a strong background in basic math and algebra this class will be an Easy A. 2 exams, one final, plus he gives extra points if you do the homework. Pay attention in class, ask questions. His accent is thick but nothing you can't handle, very sweet guy and care about his students

Unless you've already studied pre-calc, do not take this professor. I barely passed, because I didn't understand the material. I had a tutor outside of the class who would pretty much have to reteach me everything. Tests are pretty easy if you've already studied calc, but there are no second chances if you need it except for make up tests.

Ok I'll explain Boris because a lot of my classmates didn't like him. SHOW UP AND PAY ATTENTION! His accent is thick but over time you get used to it. 3 tests make up your grade and he gives make-ups. Gives hw but it's used as bonus points on exams. Pay attention on review day bc everything from review is on the test. Easy A for good math students.

Tests are easy only if you show up to class and pay attention. His accent makes it very difficult to understand things and he doesn't explain what he is talking about. Only take him if you have a pre-calc background or naturally good with math. Don't bother buying the book as the pdf version is online.

Boris is not as bad as people make it seem. If you have a precalc background you should get an easy A. He cares about you and your grade. No midterm, theres only 3 tests during the semester. If you turn homework in you get 5% boost on your test grade. Gives points during class if you help. His accent can be heavy sometimes

You can barely understand anything he says, but as long as you know basic algebra you'll get an A. Only annoying thing is that you have to buy a code to do the homework online.

Confusing and boring. Took him for five classes but was failing so I dropped it. His accent is really difficult to understand and he prefers his problems being done his way instead of your own way. He'll do certain problems in class but give more difficult ones for homework. Would not recommend him to anyone.

TAKE HIM. Class was easy. his accent is hard to understand he does teach a little funky but he tries to make sure everyone understand. You can retake test and quizzes. ONLY BAD PART is he made us buy a ridiculously expensive book.

Definitely wouldn't take him again. Let's just say he gets a little "too friendly" sometimes. He can be hard to understand because of the Russian accent. If you take this class, you need extra tutoring on the side to help. His pace is pretty fast on new material which is annoying.. I would not reccommend him to a friend for Pre-Cal

Good at math=take him. Not good at math= stay away. He does the work HIS WAY and if you don't understand his methods you'll fall behind. It helps that he takes the time after class to explain everything and the homework is counted as extra points on the exams. His accent is STRONG but if you sit in the front its not that bad.

Attendance has no beairng on your grade, yet he still checks it. Homeworks provide extra crtedit to your tests, but are not mandatory. You will have to show your homework, even if it means staying 30 minutes after class, as you do it by his time, and not yours. You can't understand him, and he confuses the class with how he does math.

Comment:

It is very difficult to understand what he is saying. Unless you took an algebra class before him, I suggest not taking this class, as you wont understand a word that comes from his mouth. Attendance isn't mandatory and homework isn't either, though you get up to 5 extra points on the exam, from 7-10 h.w.s completed. He also chooses favorites.
