This is an easy, but confusing class. He is hard to understand him, he is very old and does no use the internet so emailing is out of the question. However, as long as you study his notes you will do fine on his exams which by the way are 5 essay questions only. 2 exams, 1 group project, and one paper. All 25% each.

His class has served me more than any other course I took as a graduate or undergrad student. The principles taught apply to every situation in life and they have all stuck with me. He did what teachers are supposed to do: guide students into learning how to actually think for themselves by looking at any argument through a critical lens. Amazing.

Sweetest guy ever! Pay attention to what he's saying because it's kind of hard too, but what he actually says makes lots of sense. He's a good professor, it's just his age that's creating a few issues for him. If you see him walking with his walker out side help him out, walk with him.

He's a very old fellow. He's still wicked sharp, but he can't speak super clearly, so it can be tough to understand him all the time. We also spent ten classes on group presentations that weren't on the test. If you want an easy grade, look no further. If you sincerely want to learn about the topic, perhaps consider another professor.

Nice guy, easy class BUT... almost not understandable. 10 classes watching group presentations and then the rest of the classes were watching movies unrelated to the class or test. Easy A though

At first I had to pay close attention to what he said but, when I asked for clarifications he always gave it.There were studets inthe class who were very disrespectful to him and would disrupt the class. I found that to be especially annoying.

Professor Deane's Critical Thinking class is the single most useful and life transforming course I've ever taken. The skills I obtained from this course have served me well, all through Graduate school and into my now 14 year long career as a clinician and advocate. If this class isn't mandantory, it should be.

The man is a prime example of a contemporary Taoist hermit! He can barely walk or talk, but the man still manages to kick @ss! Just listen carefully and read what he tells you and you'll get SO much out of this class. He is an incredible man, he really is. He loves the subject (which is fun), and above all he loves teaching it. GO PROFESSOR DEANE!

Such a sweet guy, he is really old and sometimes hard to undderstand, but the class is interesting if people get into it. Class consists of 2 tests, 2 papers, and 1 presentation- if you go to class its easy, i would reccomend this class to anyone!

Very hard to understand for a while, until you get used to him. Very nice though. As long as you go (he takes attendance) and highlight what he tells you to and then study that for the test, you should do well on the tests. As for the papers, they are very short and easy. Class is pretty boring though.

Granted the "Book report" and Group project are pretty much cake. His test are a craps-shoot, even if you are in class and highlight all that he says, some of the stuff on the tests just isn't within what he states or in the book. Best of luck if you take him.

Not bad at all. One page paper was easy. Group project easy. Two tests were fair. Study whatever he highlights in textbooks and take down class notes, you'll be fine. Will tell you what to study for tests. Sit up close since he is hard to understand. He is a very nice man. Not much work for this class at all, easy A or B.

Nice old guy. classes are extremely boring! one-page paper super easy, 1st exam easy, and project super easy. the final exam is a b*tch!!! i studied soo much, and had no clue about many of the questions on the final. I should've gotten an A, but somehow i got a B instead. Very upset about that!!! didnt even miss one class, and it didnt even help!

This class was very easy- you do a project (easy), 2 exams (easy), and a 1-page paper (very easy). Deane is a great guy with a good sense of humor. He doesn't like to use technology though (no blackboard) but definitely knows his religions well. Just remember "the way of the heart" and you'll have an A.

Excellent Professor! A master of the yin yang principle... Attend class and you should do well, the meditative artform is fun and creative, the lectures leave something to be desired, mostly reads from the book but the extra stuff is necessary to ace the tests. Good study guides, I Highly recomend you take this class!!
