Class is boring, but easy. One test and one paper. Need to go to class to get notes - but only expect a half page of notes for three hours of lecture because he rambles and disses anyone who's not a socialist. Liked the simulated negotiation at the end of the course.

Boooooring. Once a week class that could have met every other week. Nice older guy, but dull. Retire already!

This class probably wouldn't have been so mind-numbing if it wasn't a six week course. The professor is kind of a loon.

Probably the most thought provoking class I have taken. Dr. Grindal is not the reason Anthropology is being dumped, he's pure proof of why it is needed. Make an an honest effort in the class and you'll earn an A or B.

Are you ready to pay a couple hundred bucks for a class you're won't attend? Prepare to watch an old man's tangents as he feels the need to go off on wild philosophical romps. This guy is a prime example of why FSU is dumping the anthropology department.

This class couldn't have been a bigger waste of time. I'm just glad I don't have to hear another****ty story about the flippin' Sisala people of Ghana. Only take him if you're prepared to be bored into not attending.

Where to start? He doesn't use Blackboard and so you never really know what your grade is. The class is easy and attendance is not mandatory, so one would think they would make at least a B with a modicum of effort. I really liked this class and this professor till I got surprised with a C for no apparent reason.

I loved Professor Grindal. He's a wonderful character, and as long as you take good notes (or buy good ones) you'll be fine. He's friendly, funny, and extremely wise. I'd recommend his class to anybody with a true interest in the subject - others might find lectures boring. Tests are moderately difficult, not too hard. Extra credit for attendance.

I graduated from FSU with a bachelor's degree in anthropology in 2001. I took several classes with Dr. Grindal. He was and is a true anthropologist. His stories left me mesmerized and I wish I could have listened to him talk all day. I learned so much about the field from him. He is an anthropologist in the truest sense of the word.

Grindal was by far one of the best professors I have ever had. He always tells interesting stories and gives you many real life examples of the material being taught. His midterm and final were kind of hard, but overall this is a class I would recommend!

Before the first test I was very nervous on how I would pass because he goes on and on about stories that seem random but really are told to help aide. the only thing i can say is go to class and take notes! tests are completely off the notes and a few readings. study groups would be really helpful to get everything he says. loved him in the end!

Very nice teacher, tells stories everyday, does not really stick to the material though. attendance isnt mandatory, there is only a midterm and final that makes up your final grade. both are pretty tough. was not my favorite class

This class was by far my favorite of the semester solely because of the professor. I am now pursuing a minor in anthropology, which was a topic that before this class, was not something I was thinking remotely about.

Dr. Grindal is possibly the greatest teacher EVER. I don't think he goes a sentence without saying "Oh! That reminds me of a story!" but he always relates it back to the material. He's sweet, funny, laid back, and approachable. Easy tests if you pay attention in class, which isn't hard at all. I can't think of another class I'd rather've been in.

He's a very relaxed and thoughtful professor. He's had a lot of very interesting life experiences that he like to talk about which is awesome but it sometimes makes it hard to take notes. only a midterm and final although attendance is taken twice over the semester for extra credit. If you like good stories, take this class

He is hands down my favorite professor! I look forward to going to his class everyday. He makes the class interesting by relating a lot of the stuff to his own personal experiences (oh and he's seen A LOT). Does go on tangents, but it's not difficult to take good notes. Tests are based off lectures and a couple of readings. Take good notes!

Dr. Grindal is a blast. Tells a story just like your grandpa. So much better than watching powerpoints everyday. Loved this class. Follow lectures and you will do great!

This was the best class i've ever taken at FSU, mostly due to Dr. Grindal.. I never read the textbook, but i went to most of the classes... the tests were pretty easy- based almost all on lectures.. and he is incredibly interesting and smart. He's also willing to help anyone in jeopardy of failing and gives extra credit. I LOVED HIM

I went to his class every day and his lectures were so boring. He was always trailing off about random things and i never knew what would be important to write down for the tests. He was a cool guy- i would like to sit next to him at a bar and hear his stories but as a teacher i would not recommend him. going to that class everyday was awful.
