I took this class... Professor's lectures was very long, discussions were impossible to accomplish because you are filled with 50 people in a room and you have 15 minutes to discuss something that you have read. Exam topics were essays and they were way too broad for me, so when you try to write an essay, you have no idea what to write about.

Professor Corea is very wise and passionate about the material he teaches. There is a lot of reading to do just make sure you do not fall behind. The material is very interesting and he makes sure you understand the main ideas. I grew as a writer and critical thinker from this class. I recommend this class if you like an intellectual challenge :)

A teacher that knows his stuff! He's very passionate about the subject which is great..but lectures can be very long. You definitely MUST read (stay on track with the schedule on the syllabus! If not, you'll regret it. It's A LOT to read esp if you're not interested in the subject),participate and attend class if you want to receive a good grade.

AMAZING professor! I loved history before I took this class, but Corea made me love it even more. His passion for the subject is evident in his lectures, and he loves getting to know his students. Three in class essays. You NEED to read and you NEED to come to class to pass! Best prof I've had at SFSU so far.

Awesome teacher. Extremely helpful and clear on what he is looking for. People giving him bad rating are those who were too lazy to do the reading and participate. I went to his office hours a couple of times and he is really helpful and gives great advice. Very approachable! I'm trying to take another class of his!

Despite the interesting lectures, this teacher is a stickler for rules. If you get sick and can't come to class for a week he will ask that you drop the class. If you are not a very aggressive participant in discussions, find another class. Discussions are only 4 minutes at the end when everyone in a class of 50 is expected to say something!

Let me start off with.. I HATE HISTORY!! I applied for CR/NC & I passed b/c I read what was assigned & paid attention to his lectures. Participation is a big part of his grading so if you don't like to participate a lot SIGN UP FOR CR/NC!! He's an interesting lecturer if you really do listen. You get what you give!!!!

I highly recommend this professor! He only has 3 tests during the semester, including the final, which are all long essay's so you can say as much as you know. Grading system is very easy based on how much info. you put into the exam.'s. TALKING IN CLASS IS A MUST, just do it. Just take notes on his lectures and keep up with the readings.

Amazing professor. Despite the hardness of the class..keep up with reading & participate, you are surely to get a good grade. Although it's mainly lecture, they are extremely interesting bc he's so passionate. He also makes a strong effort to get to know each student. Met with him one time and he asked about my family where I'm from etc. Nice guy!

This man is a BALLER. Fantastic teacher! His lectures are amazing. If you go to class, pay attention, and do the reading to fill in the gaps you will do more than fine. Just go to his office hours, he will do nothing but help. I wish more teachers were like him.

Mr. Corea is a nice guy and definitely is passionate about history, but unless you love lonnnnggg lectures, participation being a huge chunck of your grade, and reading a ENTIRE 17 CHAPTER 2 PT FONT HISTORY BOOK the semester you will not enjoy this class. guarentee. I would NOT recommend him.

Tough class. He's a nice guy and really passionate about his subject. Pretty tough grader but his expectations are clear. He's very enthusiastic and makes the lectures really interesting. But, there's A LOT of material to know. Participate, its 15% of the grade.

He's very passionate about History. If you attend every class, and do the reading, you'll pass no problem. The grade is made up of the midterm and final combined. Both are written essay form with 5 questions each from a choice of 20. The class is very interesting, but a good grade depends entirely on your own ability to get your reading done.

3 exams, all essay test about 2 different terms. You MUST do the reading, there's a lot in the beginning but it slows down. He explain things great and is very very helpfull. Volunteer in class and ask questions to him either during class or in his office hours, he likes students who are engaged so stay focused and this class is fine.

He really knows what he's talking about and gets really animated. The class isn't exactly hard, but if you take it be sure to do all the reading and attendance isn't mandatory, but his lectures are really helpful for the exams. He's a good professor and I enjoyed his class..only dislike was that he tends to talk over the end of the class time haha

I would highly recommend this class if you need units or need to meet a requirement. He is very enthusiastic about the subject and keeps you interested. There is a lot of reading and 1 take home essay and 2 in class essays. He encourages you to meet with him and discuss any issues. Despite the heavy reading, I looked forward to each class.
