Keeps class interesting. Had 3 book reports and a midterm and final. Fair grader, but I would have liked a study guide for the midterm (it was only two essay questions). Would recommend this class for someone interested in really learning about latin american revolutions and is ready to put in some work for a grade!

Carlos is extremely knowledgeable in his area and keeps lectures interesting. He has straight forward notes, however he does not post them online. I did not always keep up on the reading. As long as you pay attention in class that is what matters most. I learned an incredible amount in his class and would recommend him as a teacher to anyone.

Carlos is a great teacher! I attended most classes, didn't always read, but pulled off the class with a B. The lectures are good (a lot of notes though) and the extra credit movies are a blast. If you do miss class, however, be sure to get notes from a classmate. Review them for quizes and tests. Carlos is VERY knowlegable in his area of expertise

Carlos is the man. He is one of the best professors I have ever had. I walked out gaining a ton of knowledge and got a good grade out of it. His lectures were very good, and he made me want to go to class. He even made me think about switching my major to History. My only problem with Carlos was his all essay question final.

Dr. Aguirre is an excellent teacher with a great sense of humor. His lectures were outstanding and the assignments/quizzes were really easy; he even allowed for a make-up exam and early final. Definitely one of my favorite classes all year.

Carlos Aguirre is one of the most interesting and engaging professors in the History Department. He's Peruvian by birth and this reflects in, although does not by any means dominate, his world view. He is also the head of the Latin American Studies Minor Program. It's worth looking into.
