For a Saturday class, make sure you bring a recorder/take a lot of notes/both! She gives a lot of information. Be prepared to write a 10 page+ essay. She's pretty strict with grading too, so make sure you read the questions and ANSWER ALL of them.

Took class in Spring 2013. And this was one of the best classes I've ever taken. Professor Chang is super-smart, super-intelligent, and super-helpful. She knows her subject better that anyone in the whole world. No need in textbook. You have to audio record the lectures and you won't have any problems with Midterm and Final. Term paper is tough.

This professor is extremely passionate about her subject and has enormous knowledge, however i found saturday classes super boring. You definitely should record her lectures and then you do not need to use the book. The only time I used it was for 10 pages plus paper (definitely not 1000 level!!!). I got A in the end but it was tough!

Great and knowledgeable prof. She is not easy but if you take her, you will learn a lot about history. Midterm, and Final, plus a term paper. No need for the text because her lectures are extremely thorough - take notes!

She is very interesting and knowledgeable person, but, as was mentioned by many, very unorganized. I found her assignments tough and challenging, but doable. She reads through every word of your paper, so don't think you'll get away with skipping a question or two. And watch your grammar. Take notes during class, it helps a lot.

The best class in history I have ever had!!! Makes history extremely interesting. Be careful with grammar because she grades it too. 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 paper, everything take-home. TAKE A LOT OF NOTES, record if you can, she bases her test questions on her lectures.

Her lectures are so clear and helpful that you don't have to read a textbook most of the times. It seemed that the class would be easy in the beginning so I stopped studying. Don't do it. If I handed all of my assignments I would get an A. Got B, which is good for a person who didn't study in the end. 1 midterm, 1 paper, and a final. No homework.

Completely agree with the 1/20/10 comment. She is a mess. I took the class in the fall and got my grade thru ESIMS on 1/21/10. On the plus side, she knows the material and her exams are not as hard as it sounds. If you have little knowledge of American history be prepared to work a lot.

Comes to class 40 minutes late, let's everyone go half an hour early. Forgets to take attendance. Does not use email, does not return you work. I found out my final grade from registrar, still don't know how I did on final and writing assignment. I thought I'd get at least A-, but got B+ and have no idea why. I'm disappointinted. She is a mess.

She lectures 3 hours straight, only 15 mins break, but she arrives 1/2 hour late and most of times don't take atendance. She speaks and you feel like you're reading a well spoken book. After 3 hours just hearing it gets boring. Have to write alot, take notes. She grades fairly.

One of the best teachers. She has a unique approach to history and her lectures sound like a well-written book. It is amazing how much material i managed to retain. Make sure you take them notes, they are essential for papers. There are three of them - midterm, final and book discussion. Great class for a Saturday.

Prof. Chang is a graceful professor with a big storytelling talent. She presents clear and detailed lectures. In return, she demands the same on papers and exams. Very helpful and warm-hearted, but if you don't take her class seriously and slack off, blame yourself for low grades. Overall, she's a great professor for mature-minded students.

She is smart & knows her stuff. Take GOOD notes/bring a recorder with you-anything u miss will cost you. Tough grader - midterm, final & a paper. Start reading the book ASAP - her assignments are TOUGH! She doesnt return things on a timely basis. I recommend her - just be prepared to work your @SS off! This is not a Mickey Mouse course.

Prof. Chang is INCREDIBLY smart. Her lectures can be a bit monotonous--there isn't much discussion, just lecture. She grades on a tougher grading scale than Baruch and then shifts it into the baruch scale for your final grade--otherwise I would have had an A not an A-. Don't procrastinate! Study your notes and her outlines for exams.

She is a great Professor, her command of English language is exceptional, you will learn English as well as American History. She brings life to History in ways I never imagined. Here is the downside, she is a tough grader. She gives you a research paper from Upton Sinclare's 1904 Novel- Jungle and wants you to corroborate or refute its contents.

Very smart and interesting prof. You have to come to class, you have to read the textbook. Exams cover what you learn (not multiple choice, but you get an option as to what essays to answer). If you can't handle that, drop out.

She is one of the smartest people and one of the best lecturers I have ever known. Plus, she's got an unbelievable sense of humor. As for grading, well, you'd better make sure dates and facts are correct, but isn't it expected anywhere? Take good notes, listen carefully, read the textbook, and you will be fine.
