It's a difficult class but its not so bad. I didn't mind the lectures, but some will not like his style. Overall an okay class.

Lectures are horrible. He explains derivations to equations and never applies them to examples. Very misleading with exam description. Does not upload any lecture notes. Has a bad temper. Be prepared to read the book thoroughly.

Maranas was very good at lecturing in class and making the material make sense. The homework assignments out of the book though were extremely difficult. However, the tests were much easier and open book/notes. Just understand all homework problems.

Comment:
Socratic style is good and he's excellent at teaching concepts, but becomes boring as hell when he spends too much time on the math, which happens often. Isn't afraid to leave students in the dust, so you've got to keep up. Better in smaller classes, and notices when you put in the effort to learn. Recommended.

Great Professor. Used Socratic style of teaching coupled with lecture. Tests are difficult but similar or easier than HW but as someone said you need to be on the ball to solve them quickly and efficiently. HW sets are very difficult but prepare you well for the exams. He's a bloody genius and you will know it! Good luck!

Terrible Professor. Cared more about his research than about teaching.

Good Teacher, but Exams pretty easy but very time pressured. Be prepared to fly through an exam if you want to finish.
