Comment:
Dr. Peng is not very organized mostly stays focused on the lecture. However, if you are expecting International Wealth/Power to be an International Trade class, Dr. Peng treats this class as an International Business class and you should go in expecting this.

Dr. Peng is not very organized and has an incredibly tough time staying focused on the lecture. He often goes on random tangents about himself, his former students, or China, and often doesnt finish the presentation in a 1.5-hour class even though there are usually between 5-8 slides. I honestly didnt have a problem with his accent.

Horrible at staying on topic, he goes off on tangents and he can never really keep away from talking about himself, I know so much about this man now it's amazing, it's like being invited to a family reunion and getting stuck with the odd estranged uncle who can never, ever stop talking. attendance is mandatory, you're stuck hearing about his life

Very strong Chinese accent and not very organized about anything, but he's enthusiastic about the subject. Very intent on students understanding material, attendance equates to extra credit, readings alternate between useless and very helpful. Overall good if quirky teacher, ramblings can be funny and hold interesting nuggets of info.

Comment:
I consider myself to be very tolerant to professors with accents and am good at understanding them, but I could never understand more than 50% of what Dr. Peng was saying. He also speaks about Japan in wide generalizations which at times were offensive. Coming to class is useless just read the books.

3 exams for the semester. Lot of material to remember. Gives an essay question and concepts that you need to know for each exam ahead of time. Attendance is mandatory. He gives 3 points on top of your test score for perfect attendance on each exam. Strong Chinese accent. Hard to understand at times. Put time into studying and you will pass. Easy A!

3 exams total. Dr. Peng is pretty funny too - making fun of any situation he can. He may provide prizes during the lecture (books, foreign currency, etc) and there are several chances for extra credit. He actually cares if you learn and will go out of his way to help as much as he can. He does have a Chinese accent, but its fairly easy to get.

Peng is great. He's not very organized and NEVER checks his email, but he's friendly & genuinely wants you to do well. It's not a tough class. He curves heavily. Many test q's will come from lecture so it's important to be there & focus, which is difficult with his accent. I didn't try very hard & got a B. Course was boring, but he's recommended.

He has a heavy Chinese accent and had to ask for help on a couple of words. Tests are easy if you read the book for the multiple choice and pre-write the short response material that he gives before the test so you know what you should write.

Speaks with an accent, but if you've read the material, you will know exactly what he is talking about. Extremely helpful to students and will go out of his way to help. Tests are clear cut, discussion is relevant to the class, but may not be directly from the book. I would highly recommend this professor.

Dr. Peng is very helpful and clear about his class. It may be hard to understand what he is saying sometimes, but he lets you know what is expected (3 tests) and offers extra credit assignments and credit for attendance. I would recommend!

Prof. Peng is a sweet guy that curves your test but really, attending the class is usless!!! He rambles all the time and talks about food. He tells you what will be on the test which helps but to do well, you have to study your book and take outside notes because nothing in class will be relavent. Love the topic; class sucked!

He does have an accent but is far from incomprehensible. Subject matter is made very interesting, and he goes out of his way to help students with grades they are not satisfied with. He does ramble, but is always relevant in some way to the topic. I learned a lot from him and would recommend him to anyone :)

Peng really likes Japanese wives. He'll send about 75% of the semester taking about them. Test are easy, he gives you the essays and topics a week in advance. Has a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Peng will make you learn and speak Japanese.

Semms to know what he is talking about, but has no idea how to teach. Couldn't understand what he was saying. His lectures did not seem to have any organization to them. Anything I learned in the class I did by reading the books. Tests not hard, gives you concepts you need to know and essay questions before. I gave minimal effort and got an A

This is one of the "great" professors. He will help you every step of the way, if you ask. Very knowledgeable, very interesting, very active. Dedicated to both students and his own work. Read the text prior to coming to class. Dr. Peng has a thick accent and so new terms may be difficult to understand if you've not read the text first.

I took Dr. Peng for int'l wealth and power and I have to say to say he was a great professor. Although I do agree he rambles on about China way too much on the plus side he does give plenty of extra credit opportunity and even gives the essays questions a week before the exam. Cares about his students. I recommend taking a class with him.
