Bertelsen was an excellent professor for my public speaking class. He makes hilarious jokes and livens the classroom. He's been doing this for a while so he knows what he is talking about. He gives great feedback on your speeches you present. Don't be afraid to ask him for help, because your grade rests on just 3 speeches, and attendance of course.

Intelligent professor, but talks a big game. Very high on himself Has a very thorough grading process for the speeches. A perfect speech would most likely receive a low A. He is not a fan of anyone who misses class even with a reasonable excuse

He is a very unclear professor. He makes you read so much stuff so if you don't like reading 7, 30 page articles then don't take this class. but he curves tests which is nice. The exams are very hard. If you don't have thick skin don't take his class because he always calls out students. He is very funny though and gets off topic

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. This is a 200 level class and it felt like a 7000 level class .Hands down hardest class I've ever taken throughout college. That says something. SO much reading. He doesn't explain the assignments AT ALL. I'm an A/ B student and I'm EXTREMELY concerned for this class. Prepare to be stressed out for your life. Good luck...

I had this class from 6-9 so it was mandatory for me to attend. We were supposed to read the book for homework but it wasn't that helpful. Only one test and it's not easy to study for so I'd ask him for help. He is a tough grader so definitely use his office hours for any help. He's a really funny guy, so this class was fun to go to.

I had him from 6-9 and it wasn't bad because he's really funny. There is only one test (the midterm) so make sure you study for it. There are three main speeches and he is a pretty tough grader, but he gives good feedback and will help you if you need it. Don't take this class if you're easily offended though.

His humor off-color and opinionated. Political correctness stays outside class. If you are easily offended or lazy dont bother taking this professor. The course is hard because he expects students to do their part and read. I initially had no interest in this class, I left the class with an exceptional understanding, interest and improved writing

Very nice and funny guy! He's a difficult teacher but knows he gives a hard class and tries to make it fair by curving the tests. A LOT of readings for the class but if you do them and study you'll do well on the tests. One large assignment due at the end but no final.

He was one of the worst professors I have ever had. Can be funny but chooses to single people out. Doesn't use textbook, instead requires you to read high level doctoral journals and expects you to understand them all. Doesn't give extra help when you need it either.

He is a hard grader. There is no final so the only grades are 3 speeches and a midterm. If you want an A you need to be a great speaker and really work hard. He is funny, but sometimes his comments are a bit grotesque. I'd suggest a different professor for public speaking, but you won't die if you take him either.

Very helpful teacher. Very fun and makes you comfortable in the class. Not a hard grader. Read chapters though because midterm is on all of them. But there is no final. There were 3 speeches and you pick your topics. I RECOMMENDED him. Funny teacher. I got a B.

took him for public speaking and loved him.. had 1 test and the rest speeches, got an A in his class and didnt try very hard. I actually enjoyed going to class because he was interactive with students and didnt just lecture .. he had fun .. i would recommend him to anyone
