Read previous reviews. Can't believe he has been like this for 5 years. Still difficult. A lot of papers and a lot of readings. I will never take this class, any writing classes in UCI in fact, ever.

Difficult and boring material. A lot of writing, reading, and presentations. Professor is okay , but I wouldn't want to retake the class ever.

Not too bad of an upper div writing course. A lot of reading. A lot of writing. If you're willing to work hard, you're going to get the grade you deserve. Basically, the class is fair. Bogart's also very helpful during office hours. So, take advantage of that.

Most times he looks like Sawyer from Lost. Other times he looks like a thinner Al Borland.

If your looking for a simple upper division writing class, this is not the one. The material is boring at first but if you stick with it, you will find it interesting. 6 short single spaced 2 page summaries, 1 15 page paper, 1 final. A lot of work but not too tough if you can understand 17th century economic literature. Also get a good TA

His lectures were helpful in understanding the very technical papers he required you to read. The material was definitely very dry and difficult to decipher on your own but he was nice to explain everything very clearly. He's also very willing to help you

going to class is useless--he reads off the powerpoint slides that are posted online. quizzes every monday are passable but the midterms and final are ridiculous. class avg was an 11/20 and he didnt curve anything. try to avoid taking him because the midterms and finals are designed to be impossible.

I took this class to fulfill my upper division econ and writing class. You have to write about 6 short papers (2-3 pages) 1 long paper(10-12 pages) and have an final at the end of the class. Lots of work, but it was pretty simple. make sure you go to class, cuz the final and paper will be based on lecture notes, and get a good TA!

decent professor. he's not that great at teaching and his lectures are kind of boring. he used powerpoint slides that came off of the book so he didn't really have much of his own material. when it came to the tests, they were difficult probably because the assignments he gives out (aplia) are different than the tests that he makes up on his own.

the first half of the quarter, i barely went to class, but when i did, i slept through it and STILL got an A- on the midterm... he gives Aplia assignements, but its easy becuase he only averages the grades of your top 5/9 assigments... all his notes ar online, thats why you dont have to go to class!!!

I've taken him for lower division Macroeconomics and for upper division writing. I guess lower division is just boring in general, but I really enjoyed him for his upper division. Just go to class for the handouts and notes. He'll really help you out when it comes to your essay!

just buy the book that you choose to write for the essay; midterm is pretty much given to you (via study guide); attend lectures and take good notes (outside of what is on the powerpoint)and you should be fine. one of the coolest looking professors out there (it's the blazer)... kinda reminds me of an indie rock star... or zorro...

Good and friendly teacher, he gives really good notes which is all you need for most of the class. He also offers extra credit and plenty of help with studying and the essay. And the final is straight off the study guide. He is also pretty much eye candy for girls

He's a very good professor and has a lighthearted approach to lecturering. He doesn't crack jokes all that often, but is nothing too close to being serious all the time. The one thing about him that really caused trouble for me was his voice, nothing wrong with it, it just put me to sleep time and again. Overall he's a great professor. Recommended.
