The readings were interesting but I thought the class was kind of boring. I feel guilty saying this because I like him as a person, and he really really cares about his students. Other people seemed to love him, but I was kind of indifferent. People also find him difficult, I found him incredibly easy.

I liked this class in the beginning bcus he seems like a nice guy but, he really likes to press his communist/socialist ideals on students and only provides political thoughts of atheists, communists, and socialists, and anarchists, but none of the more conservative types like Keynes. and he 'taught' us more philosophy rather than Pol. THeory

Dan Skinner will spend hours upon hours with students to make sure they learn how to write. He is passionate about teaching and treats students respectfully. He'll also tell you about opportunities for conferences and events that will help you prepare for graduate school. Highly recommended for serious students.

BEWARE! I received a bad grade in this class and am therefore bitter. Rather than admitting that I didn't do my work, I will resort to throwing around words like "pretentious" and "abstract concepts" that only reveal my own ignorance. I will also put the word smart in quotes to indicate my general disinterest in learning.

Dan Skinner is a great teacher. I?ve taken two courses with him and in both semesters he has taught me to be a better writer and student. His class was never boring. He is incredibly intelligent and intense, so be prepared to own the things you say. His class teaches you the ability to clearly take part in an argumentative conversation with others,

BEWARE! He pretends to be cool and gives a false impression that he really wants you to succeed. This is NOT the case. He is utterly pretentious and somehow is able to clutter your mind with abstract concepts just to try to prove to you how "smart" he is. He is a mean spirited grader, graded me a D on my paper.(I am an Honors student) STAY AWA

While the material is difficult (yet very interesting) and there is quite a lot, Skinner genuinely wants his students to succeed and understand the material. He will go out of his way to help. He is clearly brilliant and passionate about political science and teaching. His class definitely challenged my way of thinking.

Incredibly challenging professor. In his class you will learn to write well. He is a hard grader, but if you stick with it, and want to learn you will get a strong grade. You'll learn more than mere poli sci thinking, you'll learn new modes of thought for yourself in his political thought class. The non-motivated should avoid as you won't fair well
