Comment:

Great class! Don is very open-minded to personal styles but at the same time helpful, funny, and instructive. One MUST see Don during his office hours because that's when he is the most helpful and is at his best with one-on-one. He's a good composer as well, listen to some of his music in the Josten Library. Everyone can learn from him.

His humor is dry and funny. The class is easy if you took AP Music Theory or have any background in music. He is extremely helpful and has office hours to accommodate your questions.

Comment:

Difficult grader for papers, fair for chorales. I hear that he's a really good composition prof, but he's a little out of place with this course. Another teacher would probably make the course more enjoyable (they rotate every year).

Moderate workload. Lectures could be kind of dull. Tough grader, writing-wise, but he grades chorales pretty fairly. Always available for help.
