Doug Thiel is one of the worst professors I've ever taken. HIs book, that he forces you to buy, is littered with grammatical mistakes and is written horribly. He is quite literally making up his own material. He is way too tough of a grader for an INTRODUCTORY class. He is unhelpful and vague. STAY AWAY.

Hes a seems like a cool guy, took the class online. This dude is definitely making up his own subject tho, you cant learn from outside sources because of this... Youll definitely need his book as you cant learn about a subject that doesnt exist anywhere on the internet. But overall pretty solid class.

Not only will you hate his class but you will hate not receiving help from him when you dont understand something in the course. His lectures are dry and confusing. When he emails you back to answer your question, he will walk around the main point youre trying to get at and just reiterate himself! Its very annoying! I would NOT recommend ever

Professor Thiel is an amazing, insightful professor. He treats everyone as if they are adults, who cleary understand instruction. He lays everything out at the beginning of class, so there isn't any guessing what you will need to know or do. Exceptional teacher if you do the work, you get the grade; Easy.

I really don't understand why this professor makes this class so difficult. I feel like he doesn't proof read his assignments, but yet he published a book. He gives very terrible feedback and it doesn't make any sense. Plus, he takes off points if you don't have the specific answers he wants, even though he gives a very basic and vague question.

This class is the only intro class that I enrolled in, but is the hardest class out of my 5 classes. This class does not seem like an intro class and the professor grades too harsh. He gives broad essay prompts about our standpoints and gives responses stating that I should of included something that has nothing to do with my essay.

Professor Thiel is one of the toughest graders ever and it is very hard to earn an A in this course. There is very little room for error in this course especially that it is an intro to philosophy class and he made this course way too hard. I earned an A but I had to work really hard and I recommend you do not take this class.

I took this 4 week summer class and it had a lot of homework. Be ready to write and be very thorough. The feedback is initially rude but gets better as the class goes on. He was nicer toward the end of the semester. Pay attention to the book and videos and you will get an A.

Worst professor I have ever taken. This class is not an introduction class and he is very unclear on what he wants. I would never suggest him as a professor! Was also very rude in emails.

An easy class but very stressful- the whole class is only out of 100 points, and he is very critical when grading. The assignments are all pretty easy and there aren't many of them (for better or for worse). Just do all the assignments and ask for what he wants in papers. I got an A, but my butt cheeks were clenched the entire class.

This class is the worse I have taken during my time at this college. He will grade based on opinion, if he doesnt agree with your opinion on discussions he will fail you. I have straight As on the rest of my courses but this class I have an F and I have spent sleepless nights writing the essays for him to say he doesnt like my opinion on subject

I genuinely enjoyed this class and the chapters that we covered in the summer session. Professor was straightforward and helpful. He always gave feedback on my papers, which I appreciated. This class strengthened my writing and was overall very interesting. I would do it all over again. Read the book and be thorough, you get the grade you deserve!

Doug Thiel is an awful professor. Makes you buy his book that has so many mistakes it is unreadable. Tests, papers, and discussion are based on this book. He will grade you down for the same stuff he fails to do. He is also very rude with feedback. I got an A but I cried every night lol. Save yourself.

I took his online course. Good amount of papers you have to write but he goes easy on the grading as long as your paper is somewhat organized. The class was cool because everything you turn in, is pretty much your own opinion on the subjects. Yet, it is hard because you really have to use your brain for this class and think outside the box.

This class is frustrating beyond belief. Doug makes the already confusing subject of philosophy much more difficult than necessary. He makes you purchase a book he put together which has spelling and grammatical errors that a fifth grader could catch. He is a very hard grader considering how unintelligent his own book makes him seem. Take any1 else

How do I even start? He makes you buy his own textbook which makes it seem like he's illiterate judging by the countless grammatical and spelling errors. For his online course, he does not help you at all. He does not give out any powerpoints or even attempts to explain his impossible to understand book. Basically, don't take his course.
