Dr. Whitelock is an amazing professor with a great personality. He is very funny. He doesn't require you to come to class, but every time you go you will enjoy it. You have a writing due weekly, but they are over the readings and they are really easy.

Comment:

By far one of the absolute best, but be ready to read. Honors Colloquium read a novel a week for the first five weeks of class. He expects a lot but It was easy to work with him to see how you met those expectations. Learned a lot more than what was on the syllabus, definitely worth taking.

Dr. Whitelock is awesome! He's VERY passionate about what he teaches and you can tell. I looked forward to his class every meeting. He is very funny and I feel like I learned a lot from this class about music and writing.

Professor Whitelock is the coolest dude ever. In my opinion his lectures were always interesting and you could tell he was super into it. We never took a test, but we had mini online HW assignments and 3 genre essays. Overall, super easy class.

this guy was an amazing professor. he was very different from other professors as he didn't try to act professional. he was an upbeat guy who always liked to talk about any music genre ever. he also let me teach the metal genre as one of my major essays how cool is that??!!

Need book, need to read 1 Ch. every week for homework. Class is all about listening to music & talk about it. Dont have to take notes, Dont have to even go to the class!! he doesnt care if you there or not! NO TEST AT ALL!! 15 Asgmts(1 each week of 500 words about ANYTHING he feels like asking) 2 major genre essays, 2 proj. 1 final(from book).

I LOVED DR. WHITELOCK'S class! This particular one was "The History of Rock&Roll and Pop Culture" and it was SO fascinating! Dr. Whitelock was at most of the concertsshows that we talked about and he was super rad! He drops the "F" bomb all the time but he warns you about it up front. If I could retake this class I totally would! TAKE TAKE TAKE!!!

Great professor! He is not old school by any means. He chose a current book that students could relate to and could write about. He is a fair grader, on all papers and gives you plenty of time to ask for help or questions related to the assignment. I would recommend him to any student even those who say they are bad writers.

He is super funny, makes the class go by fast :) I hate english but he made it enjoyable. The papers were not difficult to write. I don't care if you hate english like me or hate to read like me this guy is worth taking his class and as long as you do your best you should make a good grade

Dr. Whitelock is full of humor and randomness. He loves teaching and occasionally advertises his book in class. I suggest to anyone to take his class. He is very helpful and this is the only 8 o clock class I did not dread going to. Read the book "The world made straight" - Ron Rash!!!!

Sometimes I hate his sense of humor, but his class is easy. Watch your grammar and whatever you do, if he gives notes, write it down. The only assigments you have to do are three essays at home (three drafts each) and two in class essays (begining and the FINAL).

If you want to know about good music, this is the man to see. He's seen alot of the greats. He's an awesome professor and extremely helpful. I took him over the summer so it was an overload, but I still enjoyed it.

Dr. Whitelock is a very smart, helpful teacher. He is very profane, and acts as if he doesn't have a strong sense of emotion about certain topics. He likes to have open discussion. It's mainly a writing course. Five essays, one presentation, and 50 journals over current events that he randomly chooses throughout the semester. Overall, good teacher.
