She's an absolute gem. One of the best profs I have had at SFU. Her lectures are so clear and her exams were really fair. I would recommend waiting for her to teach this course if you can.

Easily one of the best profs at SFU. Insanely clear during lecture, and she posts audio/video of what she does in class so students could clarify material (or catch up because they skipped lol). Textbook wasn't necessary as she really just tests on what she lectures. Midterm marks were sky high because this is a prof that can actually teach.

Esther is better than i could have ever hoped! Her exams are fair, The midterm had averages in the low 80's to high 70's. We had a prof come and teach while she was away and both of his lectures did not make any sense at all, when she came back she re did both in 30 mins and they were perfectly clear! Take Bisc 202 with her if you have the option!

Wouldn't want to take Genetics with any other prof! She's the best cause she doesn't focus on cramming as much info into the course, she'll continue to go over topics if the class didn't understand it. Midterms were fair just got to study and make sure you have a good understanding of the material can't just memorize it

Dr. Verheyen keeps her lectures up to date and rarely were lectures boring, other than the review of material that is necessary for all courses. Great sense of humour and obviously enjoys teaching. Easy to ask questions and happy with discussions in class. Material is interesting and definitely manageable, with two non-cumulative midterms.

Great personality and always willing to help. Sometimes mutters to herself but jokingly. Second midterm is harder so make sure to study for it. Don't get lazy at the end of the course even though it gets a bit more confusing.

professor verheyen is very good at conveying the important points of each chapter so attend her class. MT 1 was long but fair, MT 2 was easy (could be b/c of TA strike bc we used bubble sheet) but the Final was brutal. DO the assignments and text book question (they are relevant for MT).

Esther is wonderful at teaching genetics. She is also funny and makes lectures fun to attend. The first midterm was fair, the second was easy, but the final was way too hard. Do the practice questions that she assigns! I guarantee you they will show up on the final exam.

Wow! Probably the best prof I've ever had. I have to admit, her tests are on the challenging side. They test you on if you can do problems relatively quick, but also she incorporates some tricks into them. DO THE BOOK QUESTIONS (most were on the final). Her final this semester was REALLY HARD. So think clearly, and you'll dowell! But Shes excellent

She is really helpful and the exams are fair and if you study her notes you will definitely do well on your exams. She's also really funny...all in a nutshell she is a prof. that keeps you interested you in this course. I suggest if you have to take Genetics take it with her:)!!

Definitely my favourite prof. Great lecturer, very fair, good sense of humour, and more than willing to do what it takes to make sure everyone gets it. The only thing is midterm 1 was too long. Just ATTEND lectures (and listen), do the practice problems and you'll do fine!

Not enough time for midterm #1. My last page was blank and the one before that was blindly writing in the last seconds of the test. Most questions seemed fair though.

She is quite nice and helpful. It was a big class and the avgs were the highest i've heard so far, like ~70% for mts. Final suddenly got a lot harder and conceptual. She focused a lot more on the last part of the material. Avg dropped a lot there. Note that she may give you hints in lec, but she may not put that on the exams. Do the practice Q!

She sometimes has a bit of a attitude towards her students and doesn't seem to respect alternative study methods in my opinion. She, however, tries to be helpful and her teaching methods/notes are good. Lots of practice questions and opportunities to learn the material. Tutorial is absolutely useless unless you are really struggling with the course

She is a great prof. She's really good at explaining concepts and she is a very helpful in office hours. Her exams are really long but the they are fair in terms of the material that you are tested on. I would definitely recommend taking the class with her.

Midterm one was too long, midterm two was too short, the final was LONG and tricky with a lot of unexpected questions. I thought she would question us on more important material rather than the difference between mitosis and meiosis....but whatever. She is very intelligent and knows her stuff, I wish I had her brain

Very knowledgeable prof, one of the better ones at SFU I found. For exams, midterm 1 was long, and midterm 2 was a little easier. Be sure to know your stuff! Final is a little tricky but overall it was all right. Be sure to do the textbook questions at the back of the chapters!!! They are VERY helpful!!

She's cool. Midterm 1 was way too long, couldn't finish in time. Midterm 2 was better. The assignments were representative of the type of questions we'd expect on the exams. Final was long, i had the biggest headache writing it. But it was ok, not bad. Just too long, almost fell asleep! There were some tricky questions though
