Philosophy course for gen-ed? Skip this man. There are better teachers. If you make an 87+ overall, you get an A (intro course is more difficult than it should be). Per test 4-5 hours of studying. Pre-med? Steer clear: too much studying for this class, especially honors. Miss ONE quiz or group exercise Grade drops 2%.

Gives you the option to take a multiple choice/short answer test or an essay test, and gives you the essay questions beforehand so you can practice that one. Very good professor who wants you to pass and makes you really think about the material, but was very specific on what he wanted when it came to grades.

talks quietly so sit close to the front. His lectures are spastic & he rambles. His handwriting is unreadable. if you follow exactly what the book says you will be fine, which is what kind of sucked about the class because the books are lame. Hes a nice man and you can pass if you try, but I wouldnt say you learn much. Looks like Owen Wilson lol.

Dr. Cave is a funny guy and was really helpful with any questions you have. Many group projects that were easy points. Final was not comprehensive. You have to pay attention during lectures and study for the tests. If you choose essay test he gives you the topic beforehand and will tell you how you can improve your answer if you go to office hours.

Dr. Cave is a great professor! His Intro class covers war ethics, erotic love, and evolution/religion. Your grade is based on three exams (final is #3), as well as a few in-class quizzes and group work. He always did a great job with explaining difficult material. As long as you do the reading, take good notes, and come to class, you can make an A.

I took his class in spring. Overall, he is excellent teacher, and I strongly recommend to take him. In exam, you can choose multiple choice test or essay test. The level of difficulty is same between them(I've taken both), but you might want to take essay test if you are good at writing. I promise you can get A for this class if you work hard.

Absolutely loved taking Dr. Cave for Intro to Philosophy! Very interesting class! Covered War Ethics, Erotic Love(his specialty), and God(Theistic View). Show up for class, take good notes, and participate. Tests can be fairly difficult, I would suggest taking the Short Answer and T&F version v.s. the Essay.

Dr. Cave is an awesome professor, although his class is very difficult. You have the choice of a mixed exam(multiple choice, matching, T/F, and short answer) or an all essay exam. The essay exam is not easy, but if you take it to his office he will read it and tell you what you need to do to make a good grade. One of my favorite professors!

Dr. Cave is a very monotone and quiet teacher. If you have hearing issues, sit at the front. Get ready to read and study for his tests. The level of difficulty varies depending on which test you choose (yes, you choose either essay or multiple choice/TF/Short answer). Show up for class. Study the notes!!! It really helps.

The material is average. Print out the power points before each class. LOVES feedback during lectures. He gives 3 tests (including final) and gives 5 points to group projects about once every other week. He gives you an option for essay test or multiple choice. I took essay and it was simple. Gives you the 3 questions on the test a week before test

Dr. Cave's Intro to Phil class is fun for those who actually care about the subjects (personal identity, erotic love, war ethics). His tests are hard if you don't study and the material is kind of confusing. Your "textbook" is actually novels and you need to read them to understand and pass. Somewhat a hard class, but you can pass.

I took Cave for Honors Intro to Philosophy and it was very challenging. He is a good teacher and he is very intelligent but he expected our class to have prior philosophy knowledge. There are only three test, for Honors they are written essays and for non-Honors you can choose between essay or multiple choice. This is the second B I have EVER made

He is a nice professor. Taking his class is the best choices. This class is a little hard for all material and thinking, but you could get a good grade if you take all his notes and reviews before the test. GL

You need to be in class everyday, because notes are taken every day. You NEED to take all the notes. You NEED to read the books that are assigned. It was a very interesting class, and would take another class he offered. I walked away feeling like I learned something. It's not a breeze through class but put in the effort and youll get a good grade.

He's a really nice guy; however, you have to write notes every day, and his handwriting isn't that great.. I didn't, but you should definitely visit with him during his office hours before each test!! Make sure to read the books & read the study guide beforehand.. Each question on the study guide will be on the test as an essay question.

He is a smart guy, but assumes that everyone always know what he's talking about, so ask questions, he'll always answer them. Attendance is a MUST. Be prepared for a low total points class (only 3 in class written essays). He's very good about keeping to his office hours; personable, so don't be afraid to approach him outside of class.

Took him for Honors Intro and I swear he believed that we all had prior Philosophy knowledge. Be prepared to write at least a 4 page essay from memory for each test (3 test) and having to do most of the research on your own. Recommendation: DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA BEING A HIGH 3.0 OR 4.0

I had Cave for intro to philosophy my freshman year. He is extremely helpful and is willing to tutor if your willing to ask for help. The books required are cheap and there are only three test the whole class. He is an excellent teacher his only flaw is his handwritting.
