Love her. She cares about the content and students! Actually made me interested in Anthropology so much so I changed my minor to it.

Comment:

Dr. Phillips has a great personality and a good person. However, her teaching style is very unorganized and messy. Lecture notes did not make sense half the time because sometimes she would side track from the topic. There are many trips you need to take in order to write some of the essays. Tests and quizzes are difficult and review is minimal.

Comment:

This class was the hardest class I've ever taken and will I will most likely have to come back next semester and re-take. The teacher is okay but grades people differently, she's a very tough grader so if you aren't the best at writing stay away. She contradicts herself and isn't clear about what she wants exactly.

Dr. Philips is probably the worst professor I have had in my years at Central. She is so disorganized beyond belief, does not clarify what she wants from students, yet expects you to know what she wants from you at all times. She is so tough of a grader that the one person who could understand her only got a C- for a grade. Do not take if you can.

I'm unsure why Prof. Phillips receives mediocre reviews on here. In ANTH475, she fostered an environment where we were able to effectively discuss tough topics related to violence and resistance. I found her class to be the one of the best I've ever taken and highly recommend her.

Worst professor! grades everyone differently, not organized, choice of articles is awful. Most of her articles were about the oppression of african-americans in the USA by white people, everyone (all students of different ethnicities) were offended. Did not provide students w/professor evaluation forms.

One of the worst people I ever met in my life. Unorganized, rude, and disrespectful. Told people they would grow out of their religions and accept evolution. Drop this class if you ever happen to get it. Would rather watch paint dry than sit in her class.

This person is completely blind to the idea of teaching. She does not care if a student is failing the course. She has no concept that the course is a "introduction" course. class is fun if you like open discussion, she only gives midterm and final so i suggest you pay attention to the discussions. I agree that her lessons are over the place and the readings she give are way too much..but overall i enjoyed her class and you will leave the class with actual knowledge of what anthropology is

absolutely USELESS professor. Material is irrelevant to the course work and she is the worst professor i have ever had. I had a 3.9 GPA and after taking this afrocentric class, it will suffer severely. Everything has to do with Africa. WARNING: DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH HER!!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

The course material is interesting. The professor & class is not. She flies through slides so you can't take notes. Tests are not relevant to class lectures. She provides 0 feedback on why she grades the way she does. Because of this class, I fear my GPA will suffer this semester. I would never take a class with her again.

This class was a lot of fun. We would spend the majority of the time having class discussions, which could get interesting at times. Her lectures were a little rushed normally, and she flew threw her powerpoints. She can be a little confusing in her directions, but over all she is a good professor. Make sure you read the assigned materials!!!

Worst Teacher ever!!! I'm a senior with a 3.5 GPA, this was the hardest class I ever took!!! Her class lectures have nothing to do with the exams. She is available for help whenever but she does not make sense. Be prepared to work hard for low results!!!
