If you are not able to learn by trying to figure out what a teacher is saying, do not take him. If you already have a good understanding of Texas Govt and Federal Govt, then you will be fine. He doesn't make you write any papers and doesn't take roll but if you miss his lecture you will struggle.

I would not recommend taking him. His exams went way more into depth than his lectures covered. I make A's in all my classes, but I felt like I wasn't learning anything & when I looked at his exams I was lost. We had no other assignments besides exams & his review was simply going over random topics.

Comment:

Easy grade as longs as you took class notes! There were 4 exams including the final. Each test were about 40-50 multiple choice and a short answer. Hardly used the book. He is very clear on what he expects from you and if you're easily offended do not take this class! The lectures were interesting and attendance is mandatory.

Not the best government teacher. Singles out people from different sides of town.. He expects you to take notes (okay that sounds bad...but like its a lot of BORING stuff) the class drags on. Tests are hard I made 70s.... & I had a 4.0 gpa until this class.. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Professor Pinon is a very easy teacher. If you have questions for him, he will help you & he is very flexible about grading. There have been times when he couldn't make it to class and to make up for it, he would give us 10 extra credit points to our test grade. Other times we had to earn our 10 pts on essays. Great teacher and very fair at grading

Doesn't use the book. Has a lot of test questions on material not covered though. Lectures are sometimes hard to follow. I would not suggest taking this class from him, it is easy o matter who teaches it though. Takes attendance about half the time.

This guy was absolutely awful to me. Singled me out for being GAY... went to complain about him and nothing was done. Ended up dropping his class. DO NOT take him if you want to be called out for not agreeing with his religious views.

I really like Mr. Piñon 's class. I got the book and I highly advise to get it. It will make the course much easier, and if you can record his lecture that will help as well. I personally enjoyed his class and the way he is open about any comments. I don't think the test are that hard if you get the book. Overall great class!!

He is a good teacher, but I understand the bad reviews. It's ALL Lecture. & the test can be scary, multiple choice & you must think clearly or you will get tripped up. He says don't get the book, but IF you are not a good note taker you MUST have the book. My grade jumped 15pts after getting the book. He's very passionate & loves class involvement.

Class was very fun and informative. you do not need the book. Advise to attend all lectures and write everything he says. 3 exams and final. exams were tough for the people who didn't go to class or take notes. I got an A because i went to class and took very good notes. he gives bonus points on exams for writing a short answer. final is very easy

Class is fun and interesting, but tests are hard and often over concepts that were not covered in class! Prof. does give bonus essay questions on tests, which helped me get an A in the class. There are only 3 tests and a final. No extra credit! My advice: study hard. The book is not required, and I didn't not read it. The final is easy.

DO NOT TAKE HIM, this might of been my hardest class in my life. I took him in summer school and we only had 3 test and our final. If you dont read the textbook you will not pass his class. He tells to many stories about the "good days" instead of govt.I managed to get an A in the class only because I would read the chapter twice. DONT TAKE HIM!!!!

I loved this class :D I made an A in the class and passed all my tests. If your a good note taker then this is a good class for you. He answers all questions but you have to ask straight out. He had open discussions and made the class interesting.

very compelling person, if not the best teacher. tests are based on lecture notes, but many of the questions we never went over in class (though he DOES give 10 pts bonus on every exam). so far i've gotten a 102 and a 96 on the tests with a fair amount of studying. attendance is not mandatory. take this class if you're a good note-taker.

DONOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! there is only three test and a final. i got a C and D on the first two test and then dropped the class. the test are based on the notes and other stuff he never talked about.

Fantastic! Lectures are right out of the book. He doesn't take role-he feels that you paid for it so it is your decision whether or not to show up. Tests can be tricky, but he gives bonus questions. Mellow, easygoing, funny and interesting. Great!!
