Keeps the class interesting with movies, great stories and enthralling debates. Mentions main aim of the class is to **Promote Jazz Music**, EASY A in my opinion. A+ if you know anything about jazz.

This is a great class taught by a professor with a lot of knowledge. His goal is to pass on the appreciation of the creativity of the art form of jazz. Students get to listen to some nice music, learn a little history, and get an easy A!! You won't regret taking this class.

As Frank tells you, if you don't get an A in the class then seriously you should not be in University. EASIEST class ever. He gives you the answers to all the tests and you do 3 concert reviews where it doesn't matter what grade you get because at the end he tells you that as long as you id it, you got 100. Absolutely take him, easiest class ever.

Which teacher gives you the answers to exams and the final? FRANK!! Easiest GE class here at state. Hilarious and chill guy. Attend class ( he takes attendence and becuase he tells you the exam answers and questions) go to three concerts and do 1 page write ups and you get a super duper easy A! ... If you get anything less, your brain is a rock!

Really easy. You don't need the book. He gives out the answers in class. Just turn in the three(?) worksheets and one of them is the final. I missed class a lot and he loved to pick on me but I didn't really care. They were empty threats and (after turning in one extra credit assignment, of which I'm not sure was even necessary) I still got an A.

Frank is such a special teacher. He can say things that only he could say and get away with it. Behind all his humor, he is a jazz monster and he'll make anyone who is willing to listen a jazz monster as well! He didn't win the bay area best music teacher/judicator for no reason.

I took him over the summer. Yeah, it's really easy but I was looking forward to learning about jazz. This class is more about what it's like to BE a jazz player, not so much about the different forms of jazz. I felt annoyed filling out the "essays" as he told us all the answers and then made us watch a really boring video every single time.

One of the BEST teachers at SJSU! I feel extremely fortunate to have taken a class with Professor Sumares. Funny guy. Very knowledgeable. Overall great person. Because of him I grew to really appreciate live Jazz music. I always looked forward to his class...loved it so much I'd take it again! ...and yes, EASY A!

Easy A. Attend lecture though, as he gets annoyed with students who basically miss the entire semester. Easy "Final" and "HW" (just trust me on this), and just go to 3 concerts and write what you did and listened to (it's a upper division GE class, so he's not expecting you to know music theory or anything).

Take Professor Sumares because he is the funniest, most real teacher at San Jose State. He is great and has a great heart. He knows his stuff and teaches very well. TAKE HIM & make sure to show up to class.

His class is like a comedy session. It's not a real college class. Sumares is the best teacher around and everybody gets an A. I'll probably revisit his lectures...but if you need a effortless A, take Sumares.

attendance is req'd. He gives the answers to all assignemnts + final during class. Only 3 concert reviews (2-3) pages double space. He'll take attendance twice if he notice ppl leaving during the videos. Easiest A ever! Just gotta show up to class.
