Wicked guy, and very knowledgeable. However, stories digress to tangents quickly. Be prepared to take high quality notes, as the only thing he's marking is what he talks about; as well as a novel of a term paper. Overall, one of the most 'real' professors around who will actually lecture instead of simply reading off slides, recommended!

Most entertaining class so far at university. That being said his marking seems to be completely random. He writes down what time you finish yor midterm...how does he interpret that...it's completely arbitrary. People write long answer q's at different speeds, regardless of their intelligence or knowledge level of the topic...

Toughest prof to figure out. Some will love his no textbook, no slides, no notes (no CULearn page, even) method; others can't stand that his midterm + final are a series of questions answered in the "name the concept, define it, give an example we used in class". CLEARLY a skim marker who cares more about when you finish & how much you write

Here's how to do well in his course: Write the Concepts, Definitions, and Example he uses. Then sit back and enjoy the random stories that he thinks of mid sentence. Don't write them down or try to remember. Exams are literally to rewrite the concepts with Defs and EX. Everything everyone else said below is true.

This guy is an absolute beauty he makes every class fun with pretty cool stories. No slides, no chance of falling asleep. Favorite prof at carleton hands down, just make sure you type the notes on laptop.

Pretty good prof! Make sure you write down ALL the examples. Any little detail you can remember, write it! He doesn't believe in memorization; he wants you to understand the material. The exam questions are more application questions, opposed to knowledge. Go to every class, pay attention, make sure you understand everything, and you'll do fine!

He does do a good job at keeping it interesting for three hours, even if a lot of the statistics he throws out are a questionable... He is a nice guy, but the lack of structure in his class can be a little difficult when you're preparing for tests or writing the paper! Overall a good prof though :) Just go to class and speak up during discussions!

You can get an A in this course, yeah, but only if you suck up to the professor. I'm not even joking. If you don't do much in class, expect anywhere from a B- to a B+. He doesn't actually grade your final exam and term paper. Might not even look them over. Nice, funny guy, but you will NOT get the grade you deserve in this class.

His lectures are always a delight. No slides, so either type your notes or write fast. Lots of interesting examples -- make sure you remember them for exams. VERY IMPORTANT: COME TO EVERY CLASS! Show him you care, TALK TO HIM, get clarification if you need it, and you'll do well! Also, GO ON THE TRIP! I got an A in the course, so it CAN be done!

OWKAY! Sir it makes you smile! :D GUYS I DONT THINK YOU UNDERSTAND BUT... okay... He is a comedian... a great lecturer BUT has no structure and lectures on the wrong material. Wrong being he says more stories than syllabus material. What you get on this course will be pure sheer luck. No other prof to teach this course except him.

One of the most remarkable human beings I've ever met. Very engaging lectures and you won't be bored. MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND CLASS -- very important! Also, I strongly recommend you BRING SOMETHING TO TYPE NOTES ON -- he doesn't provide slides, only speaks. If you attend class and do the work, there are no surprises on the exams, and you'll succeed.

This prof thinks we go to class to get entertained. Basically, he tells pointless, irrelevant stories the whole class and expects us to remember them. Classes have NO structure whatsoever....text book is pointless, just make sure you write down everything because he expects you to know it all, especially is examples!

Where do I start? Honestly, this prof has so many pro's and con's. To be frank, his lectures are incredibly unstructured, and he is constantly veering off-topic from the course content. On the bright side, he is one of the most entertaining, impressive individuals I've ever met. I would actually recommend! Oh, and GO ON THE TRIP!!

I'm writing my final today. Very approachable funny professor. Gives insights on all aspects of life. I recommend you download nelson slides from the book website, Great overview for the course. You do not need the textbook like he says. Make sure to ask questions to clear up any confusion right away because chances are it will be on midterm/final.

THE worst teacher EVER!!! He is very interactive with students and very entertaining. Seems to know what he's talking about, but really it's all bluff. I researched stats and facts he gave us in class, turns out his stats were totally WRONG!!! And he grades subjectively..he has no answer key, he just skims through your answers and decides on a grad

This prof is terrible! Avoid him at all costs! The lectures are off topic and the exams have material that he may have mentionned for a second and is not found in the text book. Not a prof that I would recommend to anyone.

His classes are entertaining but really lack content. Not too much work, except for a massive 25 page report he'll make you do that's due the last day of class. Start it early or it will affect your exam studying for other classes.

I put attendance as "mandatory" because he lectures from his head, and doesn't post notes anywhere or use slides. The textbook can not bail you out if you miss class. Still, the prof is really, really nice and if you approach him at the break or email him he will always help you. Plus, he answers questions thoroughly in class.
