Comment:
Professor Dawson takes several days to respond to emails and she does not seem to care that her grading criteria and communication are bad. She takes emails asking for clarification as an inconvenience. I am not even getting a poor grade in this class but I still don't feel it is worth it due to the stress she causes her students.

I got a good grade in her class but I would never take her again if I didn't have to. She sat with her eyes closed during my entire final presentation and gives terrible outlines for papers and things to study for tests. She seems to make her classes more difficult on purpose. I wish there were more HR teachers at UTC so I could avoid her classes.

Comment:
Dawson doesn't give quizzes or homework to help boost grade and help remember information, instead she assigns unnecessary low extra credits points and long essay assignments. She gives test in five chapter increments where there is too much information to remember to be successful on test. In short, she makes the class harder than it needs to be.

Her lectures are long and have too much information. She does jeopardy the class before the exam, but hardly any of it is on the exam. She expects you to know everything even if not tested on. Her study guides do not help AT ALL. Your best bet is to read all the chapters prior to exam. Ive got plenty more to say but Good luck

Diversity: lots of papers, lots of reading. If you don't keep on top of them, it will bring your grade down. Decent class but she treats it like it is your only class. HR: Tests were difficult and lectures were boring but it was ok. Overall ok class.

Professor Dawson is a cool lady, but her tests are nearly impossible. She is unclear about her expectations and grades extremely hard. I took this class as an elective my senior year and ended up getting my first C since freshman year.

Boring lectures. Her exams are 30 multiple choices and you have to answer 3 of 5 essay questions. Group project due at the end. Do not put a video in it. Never have I met a professor so rude. Was on her phone during 2 presentations. Good luck since she is the only professor that teaches this. Hopefully, she is go fired by the time you take it.

I hatttttttteeeeeeee her. she is the worst professor I have ever had. Extremely rude and awful towards her students. Grades off personal opinion. Rips student presentation to shreds if she doesn't personally like the material.

I took this class as an elective and because I am interested in diversity in the workplace. I found Professor Dawson to be an amazing instructor; in fact, I believe she designed this course for UTC. Lots of reading, lots of papers, group project, but no test. GO TO CLASS. Grading criteria is crystal clear.

Tests are very essay heavy, be as detailed as possible and you should be fine. Overall I found her lectures interesting, she has a lot of expertise to draw from. Also enjoys group projects, but gives peer evals and understands when someone doesn't pull their weight.

Dawson is a very unclear on what she expects and she LOVES vague test questions. She is an extremely hard grader on papers and essay questions on your test. I spent 4.5 hours studying for her test and got a 58. The class averages for the fist test was a 70% and the second test was in the 60s%. I would avoid taking any of her classes at all cost.

Her tests have 5 essays on each. She requires 2 individual 5 page papers throughout the semester, then a 10 page paper with a presentation for the group project. It's not hard to get an A if you study and do the work, but the papers do get annoying.

Rather tough class, but that doesnt mean its bad! I really enjoyed it! She always gives "real-world-examples" out of her own life! Her tests are 50% multiple choice and 50% half-page-answers - you can choose 5 out of 8 questions! She also gives extra credit for participating at school events and such... Oh and one time she rapped in class! :D

Honestly she was one of the best professors that I have had at UTC. She gives study guides for every test and as long as you study them you will get a good grade. EVERYTHING that she puts on her study guides is on her tests. As long as you study and go to class you will make an A.

Professor Dawson is not the easiest professor but she is fair. She expects her students to take the initiative to learn. You have to work for your grade and you will learn a lot in this class! If you are serious about a career in Human Resources then you definitely want to take her. You will get your moneys worth!!

Hands-down the worst teacher I have experienced in my college career. Absolute disdain towards students. Gail has no respect for her students, she talks down, and is unwilling to help students and answer questions. I have worked in Human Resources for five years for a multinational corporation, and know the information verbatim, - and still failed.

Hands down the WORST teacher I've ever had. She is extremely rude and is not willing to help. I liked the material of the class but she does a terrible job of teaching it and her tests are absolutely nothing like her lectures or powerpoints. Do not take if at all possible.

Comment:
The intro HR class is rough. The lectures become dull as one ppt slide after another is filled with charts copied from the textbook. Students agreed Ms. Dawson can be intimidating. Whenever a student attempts to answer questions, they're usually told how they are wrong. If ppl were not afraid of being put down, class participation would increase.

lectures are very dry and boring. expect her to read straight off of the power point. She expects text book answers. Exams are graded very hard but she does give extra credit for each one. Dont wait till the last minute to work on group project
